Is it possible to limit the number of simultaneous (imap) connections that Outlook uses to communicate with servers. As an example, I'm able to limit the number of active connections to 1 or 2 with Thunderbird. I'm not finding the same capability in Outlook though. I'm requesting this in response to the error message that comes from too many simultaneous connections with my Gmail account. By limiting it to 2 on Thunderbird, my account has not had any problems.
How can I manage this in Outlook? Thanks.

Hi, i can't seem to find a way to import a distribution list from Excel or Csv in Outlook 2011.

Do you know if that's possible?

Thanks

Running  latest updated version:  Outlook Mac 14.3.9 and Mac OS  10.9.2.

Inbox email disappear without explanation.  Some of them may appear in the deleted folder but other do not.

Only use one POP email account (Comcast) and have configured it with no changes for a few years.

This problem seems to be tied to the latest update of Mac OS but I cannot be sure of that.

Any ideas or help?

Thanks very much.

I am using outook 2011 on a Mac running mavericks.

I have subscribed calendars , when someone amends the entry in the office on my laptop i get another entry including the first entry

is there a way of just having the latest one. AS you can see from the attached screen shot there are three headings the entry below is the same but with slight amendments.

What are the downsides, if any, to creating a new identity in Outlook 2011 as a quick and dirty method of using the existing identity as an archive?

For years, in Entourage, I created a new identity each year for all my mail ("2009 Mail," "2010 Mail" etc.).  If there were folders that I wanted to keep working with containing prior work, I'd just drag that folder to the desktop and import it back into the new identity.  To access old mail, I'd just change identities.  This worked extremely well for me.

In Outlook, I just never got around to it.  I now notice I have 25,000 messages over three years in my inbox and probably 50 folders, many of which are no longer regularly accessed.  So I'd like to revert to my prior practice of creating a new identity for 2014 mail.  I would be unlikely to access the old identity more than a dozen or so times a year, but that's enough to make plain vanilla archiving awkward.  (I am aware of programs like EagleFiler and may try it.)

Am I asking for trouble?

Further info:

OS 10.6.8

iMac 12,2

Outlook 14.3.1

Single home office computer, no security issues

I run no schedules

I don't mind using Microsoft Data Base Manager to change identities

Thanks for any advice

Hi

I have this very simple applescript that works on my 14.3.9 on OSX10.7.5

tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
    set newMessage to make new outgoing message with properties {subject:"Invoice2358.pdf", content:"Document attached"}
    tell newMessage
        make new attachment with properties {file:"Macintosh HD:Applications:Mac:Adnetv5:PDFs:Invoice2358.pdf"}
    end tell
    open newMessage
end tell

but on the same version of outlook on OSX10.9.2 i get the following error

error "Microsoft Outlook got an error: Can’t make class outgoing message." number -2710 from outgoing message to class

outgoing message still appears to be in the dictionary.  Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers

Keith

I have 7 POP accounts set up in Outlook for Mac 2011 on my iMac. Everything has worked fine for years, until yesterday. Outlook will no longer retrieve messages for 1 of my email accounts. It will send and receive fine on the other accounts, and it will even send mail on the problematic account. But when retrieving mail, it stalls at "Messages Received: 0 / X".

Nothing has changed. No settings have been adjusted, either in Outlook or with my mail host. There is nothing wrong with my mail server. I have other accounts on this same domain (it's my company domain) and they all work just fine. And I can access this "problem" account via webmail and retrieve messages on other devices like my phone and laptop just fine.

I've tried deleting the account and re-adding it.

I've tried rebuilding the Outlook database.

I've tried repairing permissions on the iMac.

Nothing. It still stalls. Curiously, it also never times out or gives me an error message.

Any tips on fixing this?

Thanks!

I am using outlook 2011 on an iMac.  When I first bought it a couple of years ago I imported my PST outlook file from my windows laptop.  Instead of adding the information to the default 'on my computer calendar it created a second calendar under another 'on my computer' heading with the name of the backup file.  I wasn't really aware of this at the time.

When i discovered I had two calendars I tried to work out how to merge them or delta one, but could only delete the one that contained my back up info. I couldn't work out how to merge them and so finally just kept working on the imported version as I couldn't delta the default calendar the one without all the my information in it  Then I bought an iPhone and an iPad and tried to sync my calendar with them and yet another version was added causing more problems.   For  a while things got very confused and it was pot luck which calendar new information was saved in unless i was working in outlook.

I have just signed up for a Microsoft exchange account with a new domain and email as I was  told I could then work on my outlook calendar via the outlook web app and no longer have the problem I was experiencing with syncing.  I have turned off the apple iCloud syncing for my calendar on both devices.

I added my new exchange account and of course it created yet another calendar in outlook so I now have 4 calendars!    I have spent hours online trying to find a solution and also on the phone with our success.   If i try to export my calendar it only exports the data in the default calendar - which is incomplete!   If I then try to import it it adds yet another calendar!!!!

My calendar entries go back to 2009 and it is important that i keep them as they are work related. Please can someone tell me how I can get  ALL my calendar data from the correct calendar into my new exchange account calendar?  How do I back up the calendar version i need and not just the default one i don't get an option to choose.   Or can i somehow assign the default calendar as the exchange calendar and get my data into that one instead?   I'm loosing the will to live at the moment as it seems to be a mac related issue.

I was going to reinstall outlook but having discovered i can't back up the calendar version i need I don't see how to do that.   I found lotos of suggestions for windows based version and none for the mac version.
