I also have this issue.

My mother's hotmail/microsoft account appears locked. saying:

You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect email address or password.

Having gone around in password reset circles for hours.

We eventually found some guidance on the forum to recover the account by using the instruction here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/forum/liveid-signin/locked-out-of-hotmail-account-password-recovery/55f8eb23-2a4c-42ec-af21-3752ff7ace37

to verify data about her account, emails she sent, security questions etc. We used my hotmail email as an alternative email for a recovery and password reset link to be sent to.

Within minutes I received the password reset link.

Again entered a new password and then tried to log in. only to receive the same error message.

You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect email address or password.

PLEASE HELP - Extremely frustrated and annoyed at the time the is taking and that access after more than two hours of messing has still not been obtained.

Please also confirm what has caused this to happen in the first place as my mother believes she did not enter her password too many times - when it first initiated the fault and is worried that it might have been compromised.

That account name is not allowed for use with this service. (Outlook.com for domains)

I have the same issue as many people started to report as far as a year ago.

I have Outlook.com account. I have my own domain registered with the account. it is (remove random characters between letters)

I am trying to add a new email address ( a new account) and I already ordered a lot of business cards.

It does not allow me to do that, the error message says:

"That account name is not allowed for use with this service."

I use a simple short one-word legitimate first name. nothing fancy.

It is not working, could anyone please help me.

Also i am just curious, this problem appeared more than a year ago and was known to Microsoft. What's up with that - does it really take that lonk to figure it out?

Two separate accounts on same computer

My wife and I both have Outlook .com accounts. Previously with Hotmail and then early on with Outlook, we were able to access each other's e mails by hitting the drop down menu and changing the name. Now we must sign out of one account and sign in to the other account each time we wish to view the other account. Anyway to view both accounts at the same time as we do on our I Pad?

I am trying to unsubscribe from the Microsoft Security Bulletin. I signed up a long time ago, 10 years or more. The e-mail is not recognized when I attempt to log in or reset my password. I am not sure how to resolve this, and I cannot understand if MS is still sending me e-mails why they deleted the account. If someone could assist, I would appreciate it.

Viewing more inbox mails

How can I view more messages in my inbox without opening each one individually? Right now, in the middle window, I can only see 5 or 6 emails at a time and they each include the sender, subject and part of the body itself. Each row for one email is 3 inches tall so I can only see 5 at a time on my screen. I want to make these rows more narrow, thus allowing me to see 10-15 at a time as I could with Outlook before windows 8. Thank you guys so much!

Hi,

I have two windows live ID (microsoft account) and i need to close one. My university provide me an account that i´m using with my windows phone (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***) but i have an older account (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***) which i activate as a passport account (long time ago) just to be able to use it with msn messenger. I will not use this microsoft account more and i want to close it totally.

I have try to close it using the "close account" button in the Microsoft Account overview, but it give me the famous message "You need to cancel any paid services or Microsoft Points account associated with your Microsoft account". When i first set up my Lumia, i use this account in order to test the phone, and try some app; i have read and understand that there is must be some service activated that don´t let me close the account, but i don't know what is it or how i can close it.

I apologyze my language (I´m from Chile, we don´t use too much english around here), and i hope you can help me.
