I recently switched from a Win 7 laptop to a Win 8 laptop. On both devices I used skydrive (desktop mode). On my WIn 7 device, I could access files while offline (I fly a lot for work) and could close and save skydrive files while offline and allow the synch to occur when back online. However, on my Win 8 machine it won't let me save changes to offline files until I establish a connection- so essentially no background synch is possible. I get an error message stating I need to wait for a connection or I must save my files to a different folder.

Is there a setting I am missing that would allow me to have the background synch option work? I fly quite a bit and do a lot of work on airplanes, it is annoying having to leave all files open to wait for a connection to then save.
I would prefer to sort my contacts alphabetically by surname  - I can't find this option, is there one

Why does nothing seem to work?
The Active Exchange doesn't work for a enormous number of people.
The lamentable Outlook app on the play store simply does not work.
Signing in online is now impossible as some universities have changed to Office 365

It's truly bewildering that a company of Microsoft's size can let this happen
question is i cannot send e.mails the system keeps saying proxy error
I have just bought a new laptop loaded with Windows 8. When getting it started, I was prompted to enter my name and an email address. Foolishly thinking this was just for future news from Microsoft, etc, I did this and entered my Hotmail address. I was surprised that once the machine was up and running, all the emails in my intray were visible for anyone using the computer to read by just clicking on 'email'. There is no apparent log-off button as there was in Windows 7. How do I log off to prevent anyone else reading my mail, and how do I create private Hotmail accounts for my wife and daughter that they also can log out of and keep their privacy? I am sure that this must be easy to do, as surely Microsoft would never have made such a basic error!
I am unable to send or receive email on my phone, the problem apparently started some time yesterday afternoon.  My phone is syncing correctly, however, I sent a test email from another account and it showed the email status as failed.  The problem is not my phone as Gmail is working fine, Outlook is the issue.  I have a tablet and Outlook is working fine on it.  Please help.
