I can receive but cannot send email in Windows Live Mail.

The following is the message I receive when I try to send email:

The message could not be sent. The setting for your outgoing email [SMTP] server might need to be configured. To find the server settings for 'xxxxxxx', please contact your email service provider.

Subject 'test'

Server Response: 554 5.7.1 [R8] Authentication Failed, must login.
Server: 'smtp.hughes.net'

After obtaining all the advice and information I could from my internet service provider, I was told to get support from Windows Live Mail.
I sure would like to get to the bottom of this.  Any helpful advice will be very much appreciated!

I need help in recovering live.com email password, I used it about a year ago.  I have forgotton password and details of subject or emails sent.  I did create a new account as suggested by microsoft, however the recovery support rom microsoft was not helpful.  Also, we have moved hence the orIgonal zip code and the contact telelphone numbers that were initially provided is also forgotton. do remember a number business transctions I had made and can furnish the same.   Please help me to get in touch with someone in the support section via email or telephone.  I urgently need to look up some information  from  the locked email suite.

When I log into my account, it only shows about 30 messages, I don't know what has happened to all the ones I had? Why would they delete the messages, do they think they are not important ????

Someone hacked my mother’s yahoo account, stole the contacts and has now created a live account with the same email address and is sending out messages

Someone hacked my mother's yahoo account, stole her contacts, and created an account with the same name @live.com and is sending out messages asking for money to her address book.

 

What do I do to get that account shut down immediately?

My iPad is locked up.  Message above is all I can get, even when I try to use the camera or get into "utilities."  I've provided password.  Nothing changes.  What do I try next?  Use of iPad is essential!
