all emails older than a week deleted from my inbox

i just checked my hotmail account this morning through the web browser and discovered that all emails older than a week (Oct 17, 2013 and older) have been deleted from the inbox.  there must've been a few hundred emails there.  i checked the deleted folder and it's not there.  is it gone because of maintenance?  i check the account on a daily basis through iphone and through the web browser.

i think my account was hacked about 2 months ago.  someone used our email as an alias to send out spam.  no record of the outgoing emails from that.  i think they just used the alias.  but that was over a month ago and i changed the password on the account.

any options for retrieving these emails?

Can I get shared folders to sync locally on the other person’s system?

I just shared a folder with my wife and I want us both to be able to edit the files in it. I gave her edit permission.

Over on her system I can see the shared folder in the web interface, but it doesn't sync down to the PC. This makes it impossible to edit with local programs like Excel.

I know I can do what I want to do with Dropbox. Can Skydrive not do it?

Ok, I have installed Office 365 on my PC and Laptop and really enjoy the Skydrive feature. I have created a Hotmail address to sign in to Office online but how do other people who use my shared PC create their own space on Skydrive? My Daughter is doing some important Uni work but she never backs anything up...it would be great if she had her own account and could backup to Skydrive rather than using my limited space. Am I missing something or is this possible and if so please explain to me.

SkyDrive Desktop on Windows 8.1

This week my machine was upgraded to 8.1 and it removed my SkyDrive desktop app (which I loved)

 

I saw some online content that with 8.1 you no longer needed the desktop app, however I am having troubles finding help on the 8.1 version of SkyDrive.

 

  1. Should there be a taskbar icon?  I have one for SkyDrive Pro and I used to have one for SkyDrive desktop

  2. How to I select what folders I wish to sync with my desktop?  I have tons of family photos and whatnot on my SkyDrive that I do not need sync’ed to my work machine but I cannot find how to prevent that folder from the sync.  This was a beloved feature of the old SkyDrive Desktop.

  3. What does it mean when I see that a folder has availably of Online-Only?  How do I make this available offline as well?

 

Unhappy with the part of the upgrade so far.

Why is my Junk mail now going into my Inbox???

I noticed a couple of days ago that mail that usually goes straight to my junk folder is now going to my inbox folder. I have changed no settings at all. has been business as usual on my end. I have noticed other people have had this problem and nothing has worked until an admin steps in and does something. Please dont suggest to me all the settings changes you have in the other posts. They dont work. And as i stated... I have made no changes to my account so it isnt on my end.

Why doesn’t my calendar not show the weekend?

My Calendar on my Surface RT doesn't show Saturday or Sunday. I do have events on those days but they aren't displayed when I open the app.

SkyDrive/Outlook notifications in a foreign language

Hi,

So I have this problem as many other people in this community - (some) communication from Microsoft regarding SkyDrive/Outlook.Com is sent to me in Polish language although all settings are set to English.

Here is the background of the issue:

I set up my live.com account in 2006 or 2007 in Poland. Shortly after I changed all the settings to English/USA as I moved to the US. However the communication from Microsoft, including ALL system messages/emails/texts were in Polish. If I shared something with someone that person would receive message in Polish and if someone shared something with me I would receive a message in Polish. Any other system communication from Microsoft (birthday notifications, codes) was in Polish. It's been like that for years. I posted questions in Live.com support forums and nothing.

In recent months something has changed. I noticed that email communication mostly is fixed. But I still get text messages (eg. when I use one time codes to log in) in Polish. Just a few days ago I was upgrading my system to Windows 8.1 and during the initial set up I was sent a code to trust my PC. This text message was in Polish as well.

I did what I could on my side. ALL possible settings are for English, Country - USA, Phone number - USA. The account was never hacked. I change my password regularly. No one ever had any access to my account. Again, I want to emphasize that this has been an issue from DAY ONE.

Opened email and deleted it by accident (i meant to move it to a folder).
Can I retrieve or restore it?

All my e-mail addresses and some of my e-mails are appearing on someone else’s system. How can I correct this error?

About a year ago, I helped a friend set up a Hotmail e-mail account from my computer. Since then, all my e-mail addresses have appeared on her people listings, and many of my e-mails, especially related to social networking accounts have appeared in her inbox. I don't understand how my e-mail account has become linked to hers. I don't know how to resolve this error.
