Hi all,

My first post....!

I have hit a problem, seemingly out of the blue, downloading emails onto my laptop. I am using Live Mail 2012 on Win 7. My broadband provider is Orange and I have a Freeserve email address.

When I click Send / Receive, I can send messages OK, and this message appears at the bottom right of the screen -

"Connecting"

"Authenticating"

"Checking for email messages"

"No new email messages"

I have also received an error message (extract below):

Server Error: 0x800CCC90

Server Response: -ERR [IN-USE] Unable to lock maildrop: Mailbox is locked by POP server

Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC92:

  • My email provider does not support IMAP, so I can't reconfigure my account.
  • I have uninstalled and re-installed Windows Live Mail to no avail.
  • From my research, it seems the problem may coincide with my purchase of a new iPad Mini, with Live Mail and the same email account setup as my laptop, and have been recently downloading emails onto that device. I have tried switching my iPad off (and iPhone as well) and then tried to download emails onto the laptop, but still no success. Emails still download OK onto my phone and tablet.

Can anyone suggest any possible solutions I could try in order to get emails downloading again onto the laptop?

Many thanks....
