Where do Calendar items go once they are deleted?

WHERE DO CALENDAR ITEMS GO ONCE THEY ARE DELETED?
THEY USED TO FALL INTO THE TRASH, BUT NOW THEY SEEM TO JUST DISAPPEAR.
