Folks

My wife uses Windows Live Mail to access her Yahoo mail account. She has always had occasional problems but recently she is probably getting something like 9 failures for every 10 attempts to access her email.

Error message is:

Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
Protocol: POP3
Port: 995

Secure(SSL): Yes

She is using Windows Live Mail 2012 on Windows 7 (64bit). Both Live Mail and Windows have the latest updates installed. I have run Windows Live Essentials repair a couple of times.

My wife can send mail without problems. Eventually her email will download but sometimes it has been a couple of days before she has success, other times it will work after a couple of tries.

I have triple checked the settings and they are correct, Windows Firewall is letting Live Mail through, Microsoft Security Essentials doesn't scan mail, so none of those things should be the problem. I have played with increasing/decreasing the server timeout and it doesn't make a difference.

There are two log files here: http://1drv.ms/N2cKEe if that helps.

The only thing I haven't tried doing is deleting the account and reinstalling the account. There are two reasons why I haven't done that: 1) my wife doesn't want the way she has her emails organised messed up; and 2) I would like to try to understand what the problem is.

Any suggestions, thoughts, or even better, answers will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hi,

I recently installed Outlook for Mac 2011. I have 3 email accounts - imap (Yahoo & Gmail) and a personal email with Go Daddy.

I have 2 problems:

1. Outlook keeps downloading old emails, but only for my Yahoo account. I tried re-setting the "check for new mail" time to 30 minutes but this didn't fix it. I want to keep my messages on the server as I need to check my mail across different devices.

2. Outlook intermittently requests my password for both Yahoo and Gmail. When I enter it, the mail comes through so I'm confident it's not an incorrect password issue.

I actually have product support with Microsoft but using the service was as frustrating as the email issue itself (the guy asked lots of questions, said he would call me back and then didn't).

Does anybody have a solution? I'd be really grateful for any help.

Thanks,

Jo

Hi,
I use Yahoo as my primary email account. That account was hacked just long enough for someone to take my contact list. Yahoo then shut them down and I changed my password and haven't had a problem. BUT since then, many of my contacts have said that someone contacted them from *** Email address is removed for privacy *** pretending to me, asking them for help. It seems the hacker set up that account and is emailing my contacts. The hacker even emailed me last night at my yahoo account as part of their mass emailing.

I would like to shut down the *** Email address is removed for privacy *** account to stop them. I tried doing this over the phone with Microsoft and they said I had to come on here and post a question to get help. I did not have an account, so now I've had to set one up just to try to get this resolved. Please advise.

Note: I have tried to "change the password" for the *** Email address is removed for privacy *** account but as part of that process, I'm asked what were recent passwords, what is my financial information, and what were folders I had created. Since I know none of that information, I could not proceed. I also could not have a password reset texted to me because my phone number is not the one associated with the account since the hacker set it up.

Thank you.

This refers to win 8.1:  I accumulate 3 e-mail addresses under the mail app in the start window. I cannot select which service to use when sending mail. The addresses are AOL, YAHOO, HOTMAIL.  Everything sent defaults to HOTMAIL which is used only for work items. AOL is my friends mail, and YAHOO is

from my dsl provider.

How do I select which is to be used to send.

Vista allowed me that option, but not 8.1

If this continues I will have to change my browser to ATT or AOL

Websites Emails BLOCKED by Hotmail, Live, MSN, Outlook, Windowslive...

Hello,

Can I know what I should try to do to unblock the messages that my shop is sending to customers ?

Customers using Gmail and Yahoo receive our messages but ALL Microsoft services block them and do not even show them in SPAM / BULK.

Thank you for your help.

Hi there,

Something is not right whit the sending and receiving of emails of other accounts through Outlook.com.

I am trying to add my Yahoo account to my emails to be sent and received through Outlook.com but it keeps saying that I might need Yahoo Plus.

However, this is incorrect, as Yahoo plus is just about ad-free emails and accounts that never expire -- not for giving pop access (see details here). Yahoo is fully compatible with POP3 and it should work with any POP3 client, including Outlook.com. In fact I had the account added before, it is just that I accidentally deleted from my settings.

Could someone please advise?

Regards,
P.

I'm trying to link an Yahoo Mail account ( for sending - receiving mails ) and I receive an error message "Check your email address and password, but the problem may be that Yahoo! requires you to subscribe to Yahoo! Mail Plus."  My Yahoo's POP settings are OK ( Yahoo's support team has approved it ).
