hey,

I've spent a considerable amount of time on several movies using Windows live movie maker; now, when I want to save the project as a movie, the program begins the process, then stops and says "windows movie maker has stopped working." When I click "view details," this is what I get:

I'm not sure if this helps. I've been able to save my movies before (as in it was working earlier this week), now the program will not save at all. I've tried saving "for high definition display," "for computer," with no luck in any case.

I recently updated windows movie maker (and all of windows live essentials) from 2011 to 2012. As soon as the update was complete, I was unable to use movie maker live. I get an error message saying that it cannot start. I CAN use windows live writer 2012.
The problem with movie maker occurred immediately after I upgraded from the 2011 to the 2012 version.

I want to emphasize that movie maker 2011 worked just fine, with no problem. The problem occurred immediately upon upgrading to 2012.

I have tried to update my video driver, however intel, which makes the graphics hardware, tells me I must get the update from Acer (my computer OEM). When I go to Acer, there is no update available. I tried going back to intel, but they won't allow me to download a stock driver.

Is there anyway I can roll back to the 2011 version of Movie Maker?

Thanks
I've been uploading movies from Windows Movie Maker to YouTube for the past 2 days. But this one video refuses to upload. Now, the other videos, when I clicked the button to upload them, began a roughly 50 minute saving process, and then began a roughly 5 minute publishing process. I tried to upload this video several times, each time at a progressively lower resolution. It kept finishing the save process but never published; it just closed the bar that told me it was saving. Finally I clicked on "save movie", and it began the 50-minute save process again. I then closed Movie Maker and then opened up the second copy of the movie, which was suspiciously blank. Movie Maker said it was upgrading the quality of the movie, so I waited. When it was finished, the slides were just gray with a picture of a film reel in the bottom left hand corner, but the movie was still on the left side when I played it. I then closed out and opened the original copy, which looked fine. So, I gave the save another shot. Almost an hour later, it said that the movie had not been published successfully because of a bad network connection. I was connected to the internet the whole time. I had had this problem occur before, and I simply re-published the video and it worked. So I tried to publish again, but with the same result. I've tried everything I can think of, so I need some help.

I have created a slideshow in Powerpoint. I wish to use some or all slides in Windows Movie Maker.
In WMM I can locate the PP slides, but they will not import and pops up the following message:

"Movie Maker does not support the selected file type"

Is there a workaround?

Tks in advance.

We just had to reinstall my OS, after which I reinstalled Windows Movie Maker 2012.  This is an app I use regularly but unfortunately, after this reinstall, I am unable to work with animations on all but the first video in my project.  When I try to hover over an animation nothing happens, and when I  actually click to select one I get an hourglass and the app hangs for several seconds, after which the animation still does not work.  I am, however, able to work with Visual Effects just fine.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the application twice and I have no idea what could be causing the issue.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

UPDATE:

After performing additional testing I realized the problem is not just with Animations.  I tried to add another video to test and when I tried to play it, the whole app hung and I received a message saying something like "Sorry this is taking longer than expected.  Would you like to close Movie Maker?".

It seems like something is wrong with the app in general, not just with Animations.

I had just completed my movie in windows movie maker I saved it and tried to reopen it and it said that the file was corrupted. I read somewhere that I could open it in  notepad and fix the corrupt file. How do I do that?

I just got a hand me down windows 7  PC that used to be my dads, but  when i tried to load movie maker I got a pop-up that said Windows Essentials has stopped working and I need it to work by September for school stuff. I've tried everything i know but it just isn't working.

Feeling Stumped :/

Hi, I am trying to make a slide show in Windows movie maker of videos and slides I took on holiday on my Samsung galaxy s3 mobile.

I have been working on it for days and just noticed that some of the videos play fine but others say they are incompatible / corrupt.

I went on google+ where all my videos are backed up, checked one of the problem ones played and it did.  Downloaded and inserted this one and the same thing happened.  Then I tried downloading some free software to convert it to .wmv and the same thing still happens, just says error 0x8007000E.

I don't understand why some work and some don't when they are from the same source?
