Windows Live Mail FAQ
Hi,
Opened my windows live mail account today as normal. Everything as it should be but all my contact have disappeared. Any ideas?
I'm not sure if I'm on the correct page or not.
New computer ; Windows 8 ; IE 10 ; "Email with Windows Live" .
Situation :
I can send a webpage link to my Hotmail mailbox.
It is not highlighted or underlined and therefore cannot be opened by me or any recipient I send it to.
I did check to make sure Windows Live Mail is not corrupted
If this isn't the correct page for this inquiry, please direct me.
Thanks.

I stopped using Windows Live mail for my business as I have 10,000 contacts and when I start typing an email into the TO field , it took forever to find a match, I think is searches on Live to find a match and this is not workable for me, very disappointing.
Is there a way to make it search the local address book only, like the OLD WAB in Outlook express.
I have found a new email client that has met most of my expectations www.emclient.com and I have reserved Windows Live email client for my Hotmail, gmail and other personal accounts, just not suitable for business beacuse of the address book, which slows me down.
Sometimes I type an email address and it puts in another address changing who I am sending to, this is very annoying
Otherwise the interface is nice.
From previous questions the answers provided request the email address impacted via a private message as well as a back end fix.
I have tried several times to removal my email account from Windows Mail and then add it back, this does not solve the problem. I am still able to send/receive email from outlook.com as well as my iphone.
Can you please help?

Krista Stanton

We're running Windows Live Mail version 16.4.3528.331 on a Windows 8.1 system. At startup Windows Live Mail typically fails with code 0xc0000005, although we have also seen 0x40000015 in the Event Log. All we get is the initial 'blue' window at initialisation and then an error message saying the program has failed to start so we never see the normal WLM window. Since we cannot get into the WLM system it's a bit difficult to change any parameters or even check any information. I suspect the problem lies with the database rather than the program code but I can find no information on how we can check the database or even recreate it.
The faulting application path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe and the faulting module is identified as c:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Mail\MSMAIL.DLL. We have uninstalled and downloaded the program code, hence my suspicion this is not where the problem lies.
Does anyone know of a way of validating the database or checking it? Or have any other suggestions as to what the problem might be.
regards, Bernard
I tried removing and add my email account but now the message i get is "Windows live mail is synchronizing this account. Check back in a few minutes to read your messages", but it never synchronizes. It also keeps updating the calandar at the bottom right of my windows live screen.
Thank you
Hi:
I am using the Windows Live Mail application. The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium with all the latest patches applied. I am also running Norton 360 with daily updates.
I discovered yesterday that when I tried to compose a new mail message, I got a dialog box indicating that a problem has occurred. Please try again. Then a second dialog box appears indicating that Windows Live Mail has stopped working, close program. It appears that I can still receive new messages.
In addition to being unable to compose new messages, I am unable to either reply or f/w any of my emails. I have changed none of Mail configuration settings.
Would be really handy if future versions of these email applications would have a repair option available. Receiving and sending emails is a daily occurrence. Would appreciate any help that is offered.
