I've dumped the account, nothing, I've fixed
Essentials, nothing, I've re-set the account, nothing,

my gmail acct. works, but this Window Live Mail has

been totally undependable, it won't download  or

send my Hotmail.

Right-click on the account name in the folder pane and select Properties.

  • On the Servers tab, ensure that My server requires authentication is selected
  • On the Advanced tab, change the outgoing mail port to 587.
Deselect This server requires a secure connection.

Click Work offline and remove any unsent messages from the outbox (below the account folders in the folder pane).

Close down Windows Live Mail and wait a few minutes before re-launching. Then compose a new test message and send it to yourself. Post any new error message in your reply.

This is the error that I still get after making all of the changes you've indicated. FYI, I am trying to send email from a free hotel WiFi connection. I can receive email, but not send any out using Windows Live Mail. Thanks for your help.

The connection to the server has failed.

Have been getting this since yesterday.  Received several Delivery Failure Notification messages, but I had sent nothing.  Immediately went in and changed password for mail, but now getting the server error message.  Have no messages in Outbox either.

I have been having problems on and off for the last few months with my Outlook freezing up and then having to shut down to reopen so that I can download my emails, and today I am getting this error message:

Unable to send or receive messages for the ******@MyMts.Net account.

Server Error: 0x80048849
Server: 'https://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x80048849

When I log in to live mail online it says that my status is good and everything is working, so I don't know where the actual problem is coming from.

Can anyone help solve this please
Was the Windows Live Mail error 0x80041161 caused update I received yesterday?  The update and the problem seem to have happened about the same time.  I've tried deleting the account and starting over, but that isn't fixing the issue.
