How do I Create a Parent Account for Windows Live Family Safety?

27. November 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: livemail · Tags: Windows Family Safety, windows live account, windows live family safety

Hi,

I have a Windows Live Account and I have created several others in an attempt to set up Windows Family Safety, but I have not been successful.  With all the accounts I have created, I keep encountering one of two error messages with either account.  One says that "this service is not available at this time", and the other states that the account is not registered as a Parent.  I have read the comments from discussion threads where advice is given on how to correct the known issues, related to these error messages, and none of them work for me.  When I log into Windows Live with an account, no matter which account, they look the same, and there is never an option to add a child with the exception of the link subsumed under Permissions.  When I click on Permissions and click on add account, all I see is the opportunity to add social media accounts to my Windows Live account.  I have tried almost every permutation I can think of to resolve this issue.  Please provide guidance.  Thanks.

When I send emails to myself with PDF attached via Outlook or other mail programs and I receive the email within my Windows Live account in my POP3 account that I have setup in Live Mail.....the see the email but the attachment is not there, it is missing Why is it getting stripped from my email? I have my settings correctly configured to allow downloads of pictures and files.

Also in my Add/Remove Programs I do not see Windows Live mail listed as a program but it is listed in my All Programs menu..

I am running Windows XP Pro SP3 and IE8 8.0.6001.18702

Why is there no category below for Windows Live mail?? You people keep complicating this email stuff...with Skydrive....... Outlook.com...Windows Essentials...how do we repair any of these?

Trying to Recover an Old Windows Live Account

10. November 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account recovery, security question, windows live account
Approx. Feb. of 2012 I closed my Windows Live account, *** Email address is removed for privacy ***.  Before closing the account, I removed all information from the account such as existing emails, my contacts, folders that I created, my profile picture, and my personal information.  I also changed the required account information such as my account name, my date of birth, my security question, etc. in the event that the account would not be closed right away and I did not want my personal information remaining on the account during this time.  The only thing that I left as is was the password I used to sign into the account.  I received a message when closing the account that it would be reserved for approx. 9 months and that if I did not sign in during that time period, then the account would be closed and deleted.

It has now been 21 months since I closed the account and I checked this week to see if the account has been deleted.  To my surprise, I was actually able to log in to the account, albeit with restricted functionality.  Seeing how the account was never actually deleted, I have now decided I want this account back.  However, because it has been approx. 21 months since I have signed into this account, I am now prompted to verify my identity to prove I am the owner of the account.  It asks me for my security question and my year of birth, both of which I had changed to some random value prior to closing the account some 21 months before.  Of course, 21 months later and I cannot remember the answer, if any, that I changed the security question to nor can I remember the random value I used for the year of birth.

I was then prompted to start the recovery process by filling out a questionnaire form that might help Microsoft Support identify me as the owner of the account.  I had to answer questions about my personal information, folders that I created, email addresses/people that I have received email from or sent email to recently, the subject of emails that I have received or sent recently, and XBox membership information.  As I said before, when closing the account 21 months before, I deleted all my emails, deleted all my contacts, and deleted all folders that I created.  So there are no emails, contacts, or folders for which Microsoft can compare an answer to.  There is no actual name on the account to compare an answer to.  Furthermore, I have never had an XBox membership.  So, I tried providing some of the information that I remember using before I closed the account some 21 months before.  I provided the names of some of the folders that I created and some of the people's email addresses that I received email from and sent email to.  I submitted the account recovery request and I received a reply from Microsoft Support stating, "Unfortunately, we were unable to verify your ownership of this account using the information you provided."

I have the account recovery request number if Microsoft Support should need it to investigate further.  Seeing how this account was never actually closed like it should have been, I have now decided I want it back and I would appreciate Microsoft Support in assisting me in recovering this old account.  Consequently, I had to create a new Microsoft account just so i could post this question.  Thank you.

Windows Live mail

I originally had a Hotmail account, then when I went to Windows 7  I started using the Windows Live email.  So this Windows Live pulls in the soandso@hotmail.com emails just fine.  Then I added another email account for business that is a *** Email address is removed for privacy *** account.  The problem is even though I made the business email (which was added second) the "primary" alias in Windows Live account, every time I send an email from business it arrives with the personal email address as the sender.  Can anyone tell me how to fix this without having to delete my original personal email address?  I thought that was the whole idea to have "aliases", was to manage different email addresses in one place.  But peoples receiving my business email say that it shows it came from my other alias address and they don't know/realize it's from my business.

My windows live account is blocked. Desperate for help.

Hey guys long story short my windows live account *** Email address is removed for privacy *** has been "temporary" blocked for well over a year or two. I've exaughed all of my options,  I've spoken to a dozen xbox representatives. Windows live support and a couple others. Nobody seems to have the tools to help me figure out why my account is like that. It's Linked to a xbox gold account and I just want it moved at the very least.

who can I talk to about this?  This is my last resort before losing my entire gold account.

Resetting a Windows 8 phone

We have some old windows phones lying around that are linked to my mother's window's live account. If we remove those phones from her windows live account, will the phones still be able to be used through wifi (as far as being able to get on the internet and such) or will there need to be a window's live account set up on the phone for the phone to be used at all?

Emails getting redirected

Hi

I am looking at switch back from Google mail to Outlook webmail.

However there seems to be some strange re-direct happening when an email gets sent to my Windows Live account, it gets sent to my Gmail account. I have checked the Email Forwarding settings and it's set to "Don't forward".

Any ideas what's causing the redirect?

Thanks, Ken

This account can’t be used to access Outlook.com

I get the following error message when I try to sign in to my Windows Live account from any PC.

This account can't be used to access Outlook.com

You're currently signed in with an Office 365 email account, which can't be used with Outlook.com. Please click here to sign out of your Office 365 account, then use another Microsoft account to sign in to Outlook.com (for example, your hotmail.com, live.com, or msn.com account).

The hyperlink in the error message never allows me to login.  I am only able to login through my Outlook Web App (OWA), but there are certain things I just can't seem to do my from phone through my Outlook, I would prefer to be able to do from my computer.  Also, my domain is supported through Windows Live but is not outlook.com, Hotmail.com, etc.  Is there anyway I can login to my Windows Live account again from a PC?
