Had a group of sub directories disappear from default account ended up with main directory and last sub directory? Is there any way to restore these sub directories?

Have had account for two years, during this time have created many sub directories un der the main direcotry "Gibbs" now all but the very last sub directory "westoff Wills" are gone.  Would like to know if all the other sub directories can be recovered.  This happened three days ago.
