Is this spoofing?

24. April 2014 · Write a comment · Categories: Uncategorized · Tags: inbox, junk mail folder, spam email, two step verification

I am hoping somebody can help me with this.  Last year, I realized spam was sent from my account when I saw a bunch of undeliverable emails in my inbox. I quickly changed my password to an even more ridiculously hard one with letters and more numbers, added the two step verification, and deleted many email contacts and many of my sent emails. A few weeks ago, I noticed spam was being sent from my account again when I happened to come across a message in my junk mail folder sent from my account and copied to me. I saw that this email was sent to contacts that are no longer on my contact list! (I now have a brand new computer, which is less than a month old, and it is completely free of viruses and malware based on the daily scans scheduled on it.) I changed my password again to be on the safe side, but noticed another spam email (this time in my inbox) just the other day. I have not received any undeliverable messages in my inbox in either of the last two instances. There is also nothing in my sent mail or deleted folders that I do not recognize and all of my security info isaccurate. Is somebody side stepping the two step verification or is this spoofing? Is there anything that I can do? Will closing the account help?

I have tried unsuccessfully to get help from MS Technical Support. After weeks of waiting and sending follow up messages, I finally received a response. They sent links onchanging my password and how to manage my junk mail folder. No questions were answered. I foolishly thought calling would be better. What a disaster. I had an incredibly frustrating hour long conversation with somebody who had a lot of difficulty understanding me. He did ask lots of questions about the US as he mentioned that he was in the Philippines and wanted to visit the states. This guy was the manager! Any insight from anybody would be awesome! Thanks.

HELP: More than 10,000 spam email in one afternoon

14. November 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Uncategorized · Tags: spam email, spam emails
Hi there - at around 1pm this afternoon, I began receiving an endless amount of spam email. Each email was coming in from a different sender. It was continuous and has been endless since. I've received over 13,000 spam emails today alone. I can't use my email account. It froze up my phone. It's taken over my account.  If nothing can be done to stop this, I want my account closed IMMEDIATELY! I've provided a screen shot of what my account looks like.

I just received a email from *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, asking me to send my email Id with password and other personal details. The email stated that my account would be closed immediately. Now, I know this is a fake email and I know I don't have to share any kind of information to anybody. I just like to report this and share this to you guys so that you could block this email ID.

Here are some ways to help you manage your account after you reconfirm your account.
  1. Create an archive - Set up a folder on your PC’s hard drive where you can save large attachments. Then just delete them from your inbox. You’ll still have them and your in-box will be that much smaller.
  2. Make your filters work for you- Did you know you can set up your Hot mail account to immediately delete junk e-mail? Go to Options, and click Filters and reporting. Under the “Delete junk e-mail” section, select Immediately to delete junk e-mail right away. Once you’re finished, click Save and you’re done.
Sincerely,
The Windows Live Hotmail Team"

Why am I not receiving email?

04. October 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account settings, Lottery winning numbers, spam email
All of a sudden I am not receiving my regular emails such as Target prescription ready, Starbucks rewards earned, Lottery winning numbers, Persmart emails and I have not changed any of my account settings on those web sites. They are all set to receive email from them. And YES, I always check my spam folder, every single day.

I also want to recover my folders from a previous address that was shut when I was NOT sending spam email, someone else was doing that and I reported it and instead of investigating, my account was closed and all my important folders with it.

Microsoft Email Account Closed

To whom it may concern,

After trying to access my email account, *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, I was given a message that my account had been closed due to a violation of the terms of service. I have in no way whatsoever violated any terms. I believe my email account was hacked and had either sent out spam email or something to cause the apparent violation. This email account has very important information saved on it and I need to get it back. After trying to resolve this through Microsoft support, I was supposedly given an answer and yet I could not view it online. I called Microsoft support to speak to someone in-person, and after waiting for a long period of time was told that I had to go here to request support.

After having waited so long and after having gotten less than satisfactory support on this issue, I hope that this will be the last thing I must resort to to get my email address back.

Spam filter settings allowing spam through in both Standard and Exclusive mode.

I am helping a family member with some hotmail issues they are having. We seem to be at a loss as to why they are currently receiving in excess of 100 spam emails per day. This has only occurred since a seemingly random browser crash late last week during their use of hotmail. When they restarted IE, they were prompted to sign back into their account which is not usual (passwords are usually saved in the browser cookies) and were shown a screen which insisted that they agree to allowing suggested contacts - this rings alarm bells with me as I cannot imagine MS would insist on this.

So far, we have done the following:

- reset the spam filter to Standard (it was on Exclusive) - this had no effect

- reset the spam filter to Exclusive to attempt a 'forced' resetting back to just safe senders - this had no effect

- manually edited their whole safe senders list, deleting any email that was not currently in their regular contacts - this had no effect

- manually blocked every spam email address (and then blocked them again from the junk folder) - this makes little difference as each new email is subtly different, but it is advised on other posts.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I need help urgently. I had personal information stolen in June and followed normal procedure of contacting police, reporting it and changing passwords.  However, my email has been compromised and someone has sent email from my hotmail account. This is not spam email but actual unauthorised emails sent from my hotmail email account.
I need to know what else I can do as I feel violated and very vulnerable as I had a lot of ibformation in my email.  I have also had the account for over 10 years so dont really want to have to delete it, but will do if only option to guarantee that this will stop.  Any help greatly appreciated.
