I have all my photos stored in an internal D Drive. I have a solid state C drive which I do not want to fill up with pictures. Photo gallery will not see the D drive. Any thoughts?

Using Microsoft Windows Essentials: Photo Gallery
How do, can I merge two photos to create one photo?
E.g. A photo of the 'north' bank of the River Thames, London, and a photo of the 'South' bank of the River Thames, London taken from same location, day?
With a 'link' in the two photos, provided by a bridge running across the middle, useful for matching one side to the same level as the other?
If Microsoft Windows Essentials: Photo Gallery does not yet have a 'Photo Merge' option/tool?
Perhaps it could be put on the Microsoft Windows Essentials: Photo Gallery 2014 Update list?

I have a problem with Windows Live Photo Gallery importing images from my old Pentax Optio 330 RS camera which has a Lexar 1GB Compact Flash. Images are .jpg less than 2MB each. Does not recognize the camera when it is turned on. Am I doing something

When I re-linked that folder system to Photo Gallery, I noticed all the ratings were gone.
I have a couple thousand home video clips I had organized by adding Ratings, People Tags, Text Tags etc using Windows Live Photo Gallery....
The prime reason for me choosing Photo Gallery vs Google Picasa and other software was that the meta data was supposed to be stored in the individual files. And this seemed to always work in my early testing... at least with photos.
I recently tried connecting my Xbox 360 to the PC using Media Center over wi-fi and it kept locking up...
I presumed it was because I had shared that folder of all the video clips and it was to much to refresh over wifi.
So I removed that folder set from the Library and I think it must have also removed it from Photo gallery.

Can someone explain what meta data is attached to the files what is stored outside each individual file?
I was able to duplicate this problem very easily by assigning ratings and tags to the same videos and then take that library out of the Gallery Rollup and then bring the folder back in.
Does it do that for all files or just some?
Is it limited to the MTS or certain other types of videos?
Does removing a folder from the Gallery View wipe everything or just some things?
The files I noticed the problem on were all MTS file extensions from my HD Cam Corder.
I hesitate to do much testing on other things where I might loose more info.
I have Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and have had the same OS and Photo Gallery installation for a few years.

Every time I try to use movie maker when I click on it in photo gallery a box comes up to tell me that movie maker can't start. It asks me to check that my computer meets the minimum requirements but my computer has over and about the requirements and
I have tried to change the settings to get it to run in older versions of windows but even that doesn't work. My system runs windows 7, it has DirectX version 11, i5 2.5 gh processor and 8gb ram so why oh why will it not work! Please help!
When I click on a thumbnail and open a single photo in Photo Gallery and then click on Edit, Organize and Share so I can retouch that photo, it opens a thumbnail of every photo on my computer and I have to scroll thru 1000's of photos to select the one
I want to retouch. How can I stop it from opening all my photos?
I just transferred photos to my new win 8.1 PC. I have used win live photo gallery with win7 and used the tag / flagging feature regularly to manage photos. The tag transferred and shows in win photo gallery on new pc. But, I appear to have lost all flags...
suggestions to get flags to transfer? The photo is still there, just not showing flagged.
