In short, my dad's Hotmail account was compromised and has been spamming his contacts with scams to send money overseas to the UK. The hacker changed the password, security question, and password reset email so we have no way of logging in and gaining
control again.
This Hotmail account was used by my dad a couple years ago and he hasn't touched it since then as he switched to a Yahoo account quickly after signing up with Hotmail. We have tried filling out the form to get the password reset and sent to my email but
the questions require recent email subject lines, recent recipients, and folder names. My dad literally did not use this account and we cannot gain access this way either.
We just want to close the account. I have been on the phone and corresponding through email with Microsoft's Online Safety Team and they basically said they couldn't do anything and weren't very helpful and they sent me here.
I would like to say that I'm not frustrated by this, but this is turning into more of nuisance than anything.
Hoping someone can help my dad and I fix this problem.
