How to set up an e-mail address in outlook hosted by an external domain

14. November 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Uncategorized · Tags: domain account, Outlook, Outlook account
I have an outlook account with a hotmail address.  I have just set up a work related e-mail account on an external domain and have tried to get it to link to my outlook account by setting up an alias with the same address.  However I have not received the test e-mails I have sent.  I did note on one of the setting pages that the external domain account was send only and not receive, but there appeared to be no option for two e-mail addresses to be received on the one outlook account.  Have I misunderstood something??

Thanks

Jim

How do I change my Hotmail account in online Outlook from send only to send and receive

14. November 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Uncategorized · Tags: Hotmail email, Outlook account
I have two email addresses.  One is a Hotmail account, which I only used with the online version of Outlook.  The other is an old non-Hotmail account that I use with Microsoft Office version of Outlook.  About 3 weeks ago my online version of Outlook stopped working because I reached 50,000 emails.  OK, I know that was laziness on my part, but I was completely locked out of my online Outlook account so I couldn't do any much needed cleaning, deleting, and archiving.  So I decided to add my Hotmail account to my Office version of Outlook.  There I performed the needed cleaning, deleting, and archiving.  That allowed me to at least access my online Outlook account, but I wasn't getting any email. So I figured Hotmail and/or online Outlook still did not like so many of my emails on the server so I deleted every online email in every online folder.  Now I have an extremely clean Inbox (0 emails) but nothing has come in for 3 weeks, though I can send.  In the meantime I was force to open a Gmail account which I hate in order to send any emails.  However everyone knows my Hotmail email address and I need to be able to receive and read my email.

Here's the message that Outlook is giving me:

Recipients of email from this account may see "From hotmail_...@live.com on behalf of *** Email address is removed for privacy ***."
  • To send and receive email from this address, please add this address to Outlook.

So I next clicked on "Add a send-and-receive account if you are sending and receiving email from your POP account."   And went through these steps:

  • POP server: pop3.live.com

  • POP server port: 995
  • POP SSL required? Yes
  • User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
  • Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
  • SMTP server: smtp.live.com
  • SMTP server port: 587
  • SMTP Authentication required? Yes (same as POP3 username and password)

    SMTP TLS required? Yes

When I do this I get this message:

"It looks like you're trying to add another Outlook account with POP. There's a better way. Add your account as Send-only, then sign in to the other account and set up Email forwarding."

Problem is I'm not "trying to add another Outlook account with POP", I'm just trying to setup Outlook.com to receive.

So, what do I do now?

Thank you in advance for your attention,

    Pete

error 0x8004804E

Hi, I am using Win 8.1, with Live Mail2012. I am able to send and receive emails from Bigpond, POP3.live.com, however I cannot always send and receive emails from my outlook.com account. When I try to sign in it gives me an error 0x8004804E. Could someone please tell me what this is and how to fix it. I have been trying for three weeks with no result. Also Win 8.1 will not accept my outlook account as my Microsoft account, it keeps giving an error message 0xd0000072. Any help would be appreciated. I can go into outlook.com and access my account and emails without a problem, it also accepts this as my Microsoft Account. Most confusing.

Outlook not receiving emails

My daughter's outlook account is not working properly.  I can send her an email from my ipad, but if I go onto the web and send from my msn email it bounces back....she has friends who have tried to email her and they have also bounced back. She can send emails.  She has not changed any settings or upgraded.  I have looked at her email settings and all seem normal....no blocked senders, no filters etc.....we are considering setting up a new account for her :( you are our last hope :) thanks xx

Lost connectivity of my email account

14. November 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Uncategorized · Tags: MelbourneIT, MX record, Outlook account

I have an Outlook account *** Email address is removed for privacy ***.

My domain name - ducker5.com - is hosted by a company called MelbourneIT

On 31 October 2013, something happened resulting in me, and many other people with domain names at MelbourneIT, losing connectivity of their hotmail/outlook accounts.

I can access the account, see old emails, but no new emails can be received or sent...my contacts just get a cannot be delivered message.

MelbourneIT support, and many of their users, have found that the solution is to update the MX record.  Therefore, what I hope you can give me is the MX record for my account, so I can passs it to them, and they can update my account and get things moving again.

It's been 2 weeks already and it's getting very frustrating.

I am not a technical person, so I don't really understand what an MX record is or how the problem arose...from what I understand from the community chat is that you (microsoft) may have decomsissioned some servers resulting in the MX record held by my domain provider no longer being recognised/valid.  Something like that.

Since I cannot access outlook, I can provide an alternative address if needed.

I hope you can help resolve this asap.

Stephen

So both of my emails that were linked together were hacked and I can access them because they removed the phone number access and I tried recoverring it using a 3rd email. I got the message back saying that they were working on it and it can take up to 24 hours and now it's been over 24 hours and still haven't received anything.

sage software email issue

I am running Sage accounting 50 software with windows 8. The email program in sage will not connect to my outlook/hotmail account. My email address is actually a msn.com address.  It says I need a MAPI compliant email program. I have checked and Im pretty sure my outlook account is set as the default and it is supposed to be MAPI compliant. I see outlook when I load my emails.  Any new ideas on how I can fix this issue. Sage support is pretty useless and blame Microsoft for every issue... thanks. leasa

Outlook downloading old email, this is the third time!

13. November 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Outlook for Mac · Tags: Hotmail Account, Microsoft Outlook, Outlook account
I have 2x hotmail account and 1x outlook account, i used to access these by going through a web browser, however since you changed the easily switching i have had to download office for mac. Since then i have had to re set up all of my folders and organise all of my emails again. This is dont mind, what i do mind is

1) Every week or so all of the emails which i have deleted, moved to different folders decide to redownload in to my INBOX, which should not happen.
2) Going back on to my account through a browser i have found that none of my email were actually deleted!

How can i:

1) change it so that i can delete files though Microsoft outlook 2011 on desktop and they are deleted on the server
2) Stop the unexpected re download causing my work to slow and have the possibility of me losing important emails.

These seems to be 2 major bugs, that from what i and should have been fixed straight away as i can see other people are having the same problems that i am. It just boggles the mind really.
