Skydrive storage credited to wrong account

17. July 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: college account, Microsoft account, personal account, student status
Bought office 365 University using my personal microsoft account which i use to log in to my surface pro.

During purchase I was asked to verify my student status through my college and to do that I just need to put my college email. Received a verification email, click on the link and succesfully verified my status.

After the purchase was made I was surprise to find out that 25gb skydrive is not credited to my personal account I used for purchase but instead on my college account which I don't use on my surface..

Why is that? That 25gb will be useless as apparently the skydrive app is link to the login account on  my surface which is my personal account not my college account..

Anyway to transfer my skydrive credits? It's the major reason I decided to buy office 365 in the first place and now I cant even use it.

Windows Live Mail to sync on laptop AND desktop?

12. July 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: livemail · Tags: Microsoft account, Windows Live Mail

HELP!  Please!!

I have Windows Live Mail (& Essentials) installed on my laptop and desktop for work.  I have one email account.  I have set up the one (& same) email account on both computers, and always log into my Microsoft account on both computers.  However, the 'Folders' I my Live Mail are not syncing.  For instance, if I send an email from my laptop, and then later go on the desktop & look under the 'Sent' folder, the email I sent from my laptop does not appear in the 'Sent' folder on my desktop.  If I delete emails on either computer, I have to do it on both.

Essentially, I am looking to log into my email, and have a mirrored image/storage/account on both computers.  How do I do this??!

(Note:  I have already uninstalled and reinstalled both Essentials and Windows Live Mail on both computers, and deleted and readded my email account on both computers...)

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

How do I stop Skype from logging me in automatically with my microsoft account

22. June 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Messenger · Tags: Microsoft account, Skype

I am using Windows 8 for my OS, and IE 10 for my Browser, and each time I click on the Skype App Icon on the Desktop, it is logging me into Skype without me having to type my Username or Password. When I try to log out of Skype at the top, it says it cannot log me out because I am signed in with my Microsoft Account??? The only account I have is my Hotmail, and I don't even have to be logged into that and Skype logs me in automatically. I am not sure what to do about it, it's kind of unsettling that just anyone who uses my computer can log into my Skype simply by clicking on the Icon on the desktop.  Anyone have any suggestions??

Thanks,

Annette

I can’t close my old Hotmail account

19. June 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: Microsoft account
I have an old Hotmail account that I haven't used in years.  I've been trying to close it for years as well.  Everytime I try to close the account, I get the same runaround from Microsoft.  This is not the same account that I am using to post this message, by the way.

If I go into the account settings, then select "Close Account" at https://account.live.com/CloseAccount.aspx, enter my password and hit Next, I get this:

Close your Microsoft account
To close (account name removed)
  • You need to cancel any paid services or Microsoft Points account associated with your Microsoft account.
  • You need to deactivate your Hotmail account. Once you've done that, your Microsoft account will be closed automatically after a period of inactivity.
If I click on the "Cancel" link, I get this:

No billing information available
We couldn't find billing information associated with this account.
Did you know…
Your Microsoft account can be used for more than just email messages? You can also use your Microsoft account to purchase services and goods through a number of Microsoft marketplaces, such as Xbox LIVE and the Windows Store. To take advantage of this convenient payment option, just purchase an app or buy a subscription through any Microsoft marketplace, then you can manage your transactions with the same account that you already use today to access all of your Microsoft services!
For more information on how and where you can use your Microsoft account as a payment method, please visit:https://commerce.microsoft.com/PaymentHub/Help

If I click on the "Deactivate" link, I get this:

Deactivate your Outlook account
To close your Outlook account, you must first cancel your billing service. Go to Microsoft Account and Billing Services at https://billing.microsoft.com.

This is a free Hotmail account.  There is no billing, no accounting, no paid services, nothing.  But this account has been hacked in the past and I'm trying to close it before it gets hacked again.

Microsoft techs, just close the damn account, please!  I don't want it anymore.  I have a live.ca account that I use instead.

For security reasons, I will give you the actual account name once I hear from you.

Thank you.

in the skype, they not mention "microsoft account"

Original title: cant merge

Once you are signed out and sign in again with Microsoft account, then you´ll see the option to merge.

It happend to me as well.
Once you are signed out, DONT go to the biggest login screeen on the right,  click on sign in with microsoft account, then you´ll see the option to merge.

Just update to the latest version

What is the latest version? The page you referred to doesn't say. Mine is 6.0.0.120 - does the download give me a newer version? The one I have was installed only a couple of days ago.

The version you would get if you were to update now is only a minor version update (6.0.59.120), while it's always best to be on the latest version of Skype you should be able to link your Microsoft and Skype accounts using the version you have installed.

merge with your Skype ID as you sign up.

I don't see sign up anywhere.

If you have Skype set-up to log-in automatically then you might not have seen the log-in screen which gives you the option to log in with your Microsoft account (and go through the flow of merging your Microsoft and Skype accounts, which is what we refer to as the Sign up flow).

To get to the log-in screen please open Skype, press Alt+S and click on Sign Out on the menu that appears. Then follow these steps to log in with your Microsoft account: https://support.skype.com/faq/FA12081

Sorry, I don't understand a word of this. What are my personal accounts? Or my professional ones? And again, what is the sign up flow?

This point is just to help users who have separate Skype and/or Microsoft accounts for professional and personal use. If you only have one Skype and one Microsoft account then you can just merge those two and ignore this message.

If I misunderstood the issues you are seeing then please let me know and I'll do my best to help you further.

Every time I attempt to sign in i get an error message.

04. May 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: error message, error message states, Microsoft account
The error message states. "You're currently signed in with an Office 365 email account, which can't be used with Outlook.com. Please click here to sign out of your Office 365 account, then use another Microsoft account to sign in to Outlook.com (for example, your hotmail.com, live.com, or msn.com account)." I know i'm not signed in on other computers (which hasn't been a problem in the past). So I don't know what to do. Suggestions?
