Microsoft child account grant permission process failing

26. July 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: Microsoft account, Microsoft child account
Hello, I am trying to grant permissions for accounts for my children. The accounts have been created and when walking through the permission process it fails at the stage when it would process my credit card as validation.

I am receiving the following message:

We're unable to complete your request

Microsoft account is experiencing technical problems. Please try again later.

This has been occurring for the last 24 hours. Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround or some other way to get these accounts the permission they need?

Again, the accounts seem to be created but when attempting to login I am forced down the path of permission which continually fails.

Thanks,

Scott

outlook.com blank page url error=-2147205086 fixed with change in account alias

26. July 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: Microsoft account, XP

I have two microsoft accounts. One email address is .edu and the other is a .com address. Independent of OS (windows 8, 7 and XP, android), whichever browser (IE10, any compatibility mode within IE10, IE 8 on XP, Chrome and Firefox); whichever device (phone, windows tablet, laptop or pc) I have different results when logging in to the outlook.live.com .

When I use the .edu account I successfully clear the authentication/login but the url is redirected to the blank page with the error url  https://pod51043.outlook.com/owa/?hm=1&f=255&MSPPError=-2147205086 . I sign in again, now with the .com windows account the outlook site displays correctly https://blu171.mail.live.com/default.aspx? etc...

Amazingly the windows 8 email app displays the .edu windows account email while outlook.com site, as mentioned above, display the blank page https://pod51043.outlook.com/owa/?hm=1&f=255&MSPPError=-2147205086 .

This error seems to affect only Outlook.live.com. All others work fine: Skydrive.live.com, Calendar.live.com and People.live.com. Note that People.live.com uses the same server address as outlook.com (https://blu171.mail.live.com/default.aspx?rru=contacts) and displays all contacts from the .edu microsoft account.

All fixes suggested in most of the threads I read did not resolve anything. I attempted to delete the .edu account but I could not. An unpaid item in the microsoft market would not allow the deletion. In the past I have downloaded the office 365 trial using the .edu account. The trial expired in April 11 and in May I bought office pro 2013 eternal license. So I uninstalled outlook pro, reinstalled the trial, unistalled the trial. My problem persists.  Since April I had a few times when I coul cot sign in outlook.com but it became a constant problem in the past couple of months.

The https://office.microsoft.com/en-us/MyAccount.aspx shows "Your Office Preview has been cancelled." The https://commerce.microsoft.com/PaymentHub/Profile has no records i.e., no products or transaction are listed. So clearly the commerce site is not talking to the microsoft account or the programmer forgot to include that market status "cancelled" should allow the account to be deleted.

What if I got rid of the .edu address? I changed the account alias. TOTALLY REPLACED it to an email address that did not exist [firstname][lastname]@live.com. Went to the outlook.com website and the site displays correctly https://blu171.mail.live.com/default.aspx... I remove the new alias and restore the old .edu, I get the same blank page https://pod51043.outlook.com/owa/?hm=1&f=255&MSPPError=-2147205086 .

Can we now establish that the problem DOES NOT reside in the OS, browser or machine? Is likely to reside within an association of certain microsoft accounts either associated with the market or with the office.com? Or could it be related to the fact that the .edu email is a gmail account?

My security for my email account appears to have been compromised (details below)

I'm getting messages that are telling me (1) "looks like you've added some security info to your Microsoft account," which I have not, and when it shows the Microsoft account they are talking about, it is very similar to mine, but ends with ".co.uk" rather than ".com."  The ".co.uk" account they are talking about is not my account.

It then says, "If you didn't make this request, click here (link) to cancel."  However, when I click on the link, it then asks me to sign in with the ".co.uk" account that, again, is nearly identical to mine, but ends with ".co.uk" rather than ".com."

The second email I've gotten says (2) "The account security information for your Microsoft account (here it shows the ".co.uk" address) is scheduled to be removed. (It then shows my actual ".com" email address)."

It then says after that, "If you didn't make this request, then someone else may have your password. We'd like to help you get your account back. Please go to the following website to change your password and restore your account security information (link)."  When I click on the link, it asks me to sign in.  I then sign in as normal, and then I am then taken to a screen that says:

"Sign in with your Microsoft account

Sign in with (here it shows the ".co.uk" address, which is not mine) to manage your password reset information."

Can this please be fixed?

Microsoft account lost my windows 8 computer

25. July 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: computer, Microsoft account

Hi,

I have added account aliases and used the outlook.com app on my mobile to access emails. Had some issues with syncing after setup.

Somewhere during this process something happened and my windows 8 computer is no longer linked to the account and now I cannot start the computer as it seems to be somehow blocked.

What can I do to link the computer back to my account?

thanks for your help

Trish

Sync Skydrive on two computers

25. July 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: microsoft, Microsoft account, Windows Tablet

I recently purchased a Windows Tablet from Dell and set up a Microsoft account for it.  A few days later I upgraded my PC to Windows 8 but set it up under a different Microsoft account.  The Skydrive account on the PC has several Word documents, Excel workbooks and Access databases  that I wish to access and update from the tablet.  I can open the files but they are not up to date.  How do I sync them?  I have tried examples/instructions from several sources but nothing seems to work.  Any help (as detailed as possible) would be appreciated.

I can’t close my Microsoft Account.

Verifying a Deleted account

25. July 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: microsoft, Microsoft account
Hi, I had two Microsoft accounts and I wanted to make them alliances but it would not let me since they are both being used as Microsoft accounts. I deleted one of them, and still when I am trying to make them alliances it says that the email is still being used as a Microsoft account even though I deleted it a few hours ago. I was told it may be because I haven't received an email verifying the deactivation yet and that it may take 24 hours. Is there a way to speed that email or for someone to verify the deactivation sooner? Thanks

I can’t access my account

My university email account (@my.dom.edu) used hotmail, and now that it has switched to outlook, it won't work.  I haven't been able to check my university email for over a month now.  The error message that displays whenever I try to sign in is:

This account can't be used to access Outlook.com
You're currently signed in with an Office 365 email account, which can't be used with Outlook.com. Please click here to sign out of your Office 365 account, then use another Microsoft account to sign in to Outlook.com (for example, your hotmail.com, live.com, or msn.com account).

I have tried changing my password, but it does not help.  Please help me on this issue.

What do i need to do to access my Outlook account because I've clicked the "here" hyperlink and tried to log in again using those other services and I keep getting the same error message.
