Cannot access my old hotmail account which is linked to my twitter

So I need to deactivate my twitter account but I can't do so unless I have access to my old hotmail account which I lost the password to a long time ago. When trying to recover my hotmail account password, it kept telling me that windows did not recognize my windows live id or that the id does not exist.
After talking to a windowslive chat agent, he instructed me to set up an identical email address (hotmail account) as my old one so that I could access the emails being sent from twitter. So I did this but I am still not receiving emails from twitter. So my question is how do I access my old hotmail account? Or is there any way that I can connect the new hotmail account I made to the old one so that I can receive the emails from twitter ?
Thanks

My daughter cannot remember her Hotmail password. She has my email down as the alternate. The code is sent to my e-mail to retrieve it her Hotmail account password. When I enter the code in the reset process, it says that the code is incorrect. I have tried this multiple times and it still says code incorrect. This is getting ridiculous!

I have an old Hotmail account which I have used extensively for gaming purposes and unfortunately after deciding to play on a Retro version of a particular game, they have used my registration information to successfully hack into my Hotmail account. They have changed my Hotmail account password and I can no longer gain access to it.

Whenever I try to retrieve my Hotmail account through 'Forget my password' and request to fill out the questionnaire for a validation of proof, the email of my account then changes to another email and shows that I am no longer trying to retrieve my original account but an unknown account that has been linked to my account. I am unsure as to how I can retrieve my account as the security question is set by the hacker as well as the back up email.

Help is widely appreciated, I really want to be in possession of my account again. Thank you :)

Alright, up an running again… thanks Microsoft !
