Windows Live Mail FAQ

Are email credentials stored remotely when using Windows Live Mail with a sign-in ID?

Hello,

I experienced some odd behavior after installing Windows Live Mail on a new computer.  I launched the program and signed in using my Windows Live ID.  It then immediately showed my Gmail account and began downloading my mail.  I never entered (nor did it prompt me) for my Gmail password.   So, is my Gmail password stored on Microsoft servers because I was signed in under a Windows Live ID at the time the account was added?  (several months ago).   If so, how can I prevent email credentials from being stored on Microsoft servers?  I don't mind if my computer remembers the password but I do mind if it's being stored remotely.

Best regards,
Mike

Hotmail Account Hacked and Changed to Arabic

09. August 2012 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: Account, Arabic, everything, forwarding, Gmail Account, Hacked, Hotmail Account Hacked, navigation tools, post

My Hotmail account was hacked and changed to Arabic. I followed the directions on other post and change the settings back to English but the only thing that changed was the subject lines of the e-mails. Everything else, including the navigation tools, remains in Arabic.

I tried Sending a test email to the hacked account from a Gmail account but it never showed up at the hacked account which tells me mail forwarding service is active. I can't change the forwarding properties because when you click on the mail tab from the options page it defaults back to Arabic. And clicking back to hotmail takes you right back to everything being in Arabic.

I thought it might be a cache problem so tried ie32 bit and Firefox to no avail (I’m using ie64 bit). While logged in Windows Live the MSN page takes you to the MSN Arabia site and I can't change those properties either because once again all the navigation tools are in Arabic. I’m really frustrated with this situation and don’t want to delete this account because I’ve had this e-mail account for like 10 years.

Contacts do not import from Gmail

I have set up my Windows Live Id to sync with my Windows Phone.

I have set up my Gmail Account loaded with all the contacts from my previous Android Phone. The contacts are shown in my Gmail Account properly.

I tried connecting my Windows Live Id with the Gmail account for importing the contacts. It showed success in connecting the Id. Also, it said it may take few minutes before importing data.

It was few days back and I am still waiting for the Contacts data to appear in my Windows Live Id.

I must say my experience so far with Windows Live has been very disappointing. Things are complex, confusing and designed to malfunction.

Can someone help with my problem??
