I can’t send any mails

Any buttons in "new mail" doesn't working.
I don't see text frame to write message.
What can i do?

Pictures sent on Emails have a small red cross in the top LH corner and do not open automatically

How do I get the pictures sent on some Emails to open automatically? There is a small red cross in the top LH corner of the frame.
