tried to install windows essentials 2011-get message "you already have different build flavor of windows live". How do i fix this

I keep getting prompted each day to install windows essentials 2011 .  My computer downloads this update but cannot find a restore point and I get message that it failed and message says "you already have different build flavor of windows live" and also "you must uninstall the version that is installed on vomputer  Please let me know if it is mandatory to install this update as I cannot do it --I need help
