Windows Live Mail FAQ

Windows Live Mail message file for email account disconnected from email account name.

19. May 2014 · Write a comment · Categories: livemail · Tags: email account name, WLM
Windows Live Mail is working on Win 7. I tried to import messages from another computer which worked. To be safe, I saved the original email files that were in the WLM folder. Then something happened. The email account does not access the data file and the name of the file is not the same as the email account name. I tried copying the saved file back into the WLM folder but no luck. I even tried creating a new email account and tried to make it find the saved file which I copied to the WLM filder but no luck. . I have all the messages but I can't make WLM email account sync with them. How do I get them connected?  Thanks.

Hotmail account does not exist

16. January 2014 · Write a comment · Categories: livemail · Tags: email account name, Hotmail login
Hi,

At hotmail login it says my account does not exist. I suspect it has been deactivated due to no login >365 days. Read about many posts regarding deactivated hotmail accounts and one of them mentioned re-creating a same email account name to retrieve the account, but that didn't work either.

Now i have a newly created hotmail account with the same id as my old , is there anyway i can recover the messages in my old account?

How to Change Email Account Name of Outlook with Custom Domains

28. September 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: custom domain setup, email account name
I have a custom domain setup (i.e. *** Email address is removed for privacy *** ) setup with multiple email addresses. Will try to explain...

The main email address I am using... for example, *** Email address is removed for privacy *** , needs to be changed to *** Email address is removed for privacy *** .

As I'd like to keep all the archived emails and folders that I setup in *** Email address is removed for privacy *** , but change the login + main address to *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

Make sense?

How can I do this?

How can I post email from an alias without it showing my account name from the primary account profile?

24. August 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account name, Account Profile, email account name

I have a primary email account name sent up, for example, as *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, which I use to send most email from here. I also just set up an alias on this account, which shows up, for example, as *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. The email works fine from both except that I would like to be able to send email from the alias without my full name showing up along with it, as it does from the primary account because I have it set to do so on the primary account profile. Is there a way to configure the alias profile so that no name is used?
