Hi there..

I created a custom email ID in windows live admin center [domains.live.com].

Everything was configured (as per the instructions) and as a result I could successfully verify my domain ownership as well as mail setup.

Right now my account now says "Your service is Active." and there are no errors or pending status.

But when I send a test mail from a different personal account(s) to this account, the mails are failing.

Wondering what the issue is? Anything I missed or need to configure?

Appreciate your help in this regard.

Right now I configured the following:

Mail setup (required: To set up mail and prove ownership of this domain, you must create an MX record through your domain registrar. Use the following settings:

    DNS record type: MX
    Host: stareventsbza.com
    MX server: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx .pamx1.hotmail.com
    TTL: 3600 or 1 hour
    Priority: 10 (or High priority)

Prove domain ownership (optional)
If you would like to prove the ownership of domain and create users without setting up mail, you can use one of the following methods for up to 30 days. After 30 days, you will need to set up an MX record for mail routing as shown above.

If your domain registrar allows you to create TXT records, use these settings:

    DNS record type: TXT
    Host: stareventsbza.com
    Value: v=xxx t=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Server trust (recommended)
Create a TXT record to allow other mail servers to trust email originating from your domain. Also known as sender ID configuration, this setting will help prevent your mail from being marked as junk mail. Use the following settings:

    DNS record type: TXT
    Host: stareventsbza.com
    Value: v=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
TTL: 3600 or 1 hour (if requested)

CNAME:

mail.stareventsbza.com set to go.domains.live.com

Update:

When I see the details of the account I created.. It says... as under. Wondering why the Inbox active is saying NO and is this something we need to change? Where?

Mail status: Enabled

Inbox active: No

Hello all,

I want to know how long until Windows Live Admin Center cancel my Outlook email services if I don't prove ownership of my domain. I'm currently still able to send and receive email messages, but have not proven ownership of my domain. I know how to set up the MX record; it's just that my domain registrar does not have DNS service for shared hosting, except for the hosting itself.

Thank you.
I have this configured in my DNS. I do not want to add email and MX until I have user accounts created and some mobile phone issues resolved.

  • DNS record type: TXT
  • Host: stipe.co
  • Value: v=msv1 t=f556dd14265d7f4095bd38ad5ee87b

The TXT records is live (see http://www.whatsmyip.us/txt:stipe.co) yet when I hit Refresh, the error will not go away.

Am I doing something wrong? What do I need to do next? Please note: I DO NOT want to change MX at this time.

Hi there,

This is an updated post regarding issues I have been facing from my original post: http://answers.microsoft.com/  ; for which I still do not have a solution.

My issue is:

At first, I was unable to register my domain, due to the "protected word" issue. However, after posting this issue, support was able to unblock this domain.  My domain is www.primainternational.in

After registering the domain in the Windows Live Admin Center, I received the MX and TXT records which I updated with my domain registrar. After updating those records with my registrar, the status of my domain on Windows Live Domain Site maintained "Pending Changes". I left it for a few hours to a few days trying several times, hoping for the DNS changes to propogate through the internet, however the status still showed Pending Changes. Please note that it has been over a two months since this issue. The support personnel on my original post referred me to THIS link, which I steps I have already followed, and could confirm that I had correctly setup my DNS settings. Apparently my issue was then escalated to a support specialist, however I was asked to contact my registrar for properly solving this issue. Not to mention that each time I was asked to remove my existing MX records to replace with the pamx1.... records, I was left without my current emails.

I have also tried setting up a completely new Microsoft account. I removed all other records from my registrar, however the status with the new account is also showing Pending Changes. As stated by other users facing the same issue as me, it seems that "they did NOT unblock our custom domains correctly OR  they don't seem to have a handle on allowing once stuck custom domains to be configured cleanly." Many other users who faced the same protected word issue are unable to prove ownership of the domain with the correct MX records.

I am confident that my DNS settings are set up correctly. Could someone from support please help of this issue?

Regards,
Preet
I'm trying to configure outlook.com as my email solution for my domain alphapecificinfra.com. As per your requirement, I'm unable to verify that I'm the owner of the domain, inspite of making the required settings on my domain control panel.

I had done the setup using my hotmail login. but i've been unable to do the required DNS settings on my domain control panel. I had even taken help from my domain registrar as well for the same but with no success.

Pl help.
