Change DOB of a child account

11. November 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: child account, DOB
Hi there,
I mistakenly put the DOB to my account resulting as a child. Not having a US bank account, I tried twice the fax sending option to verify that I am an adult, but not successful. What else can/should I do to change that damn DOB. I would appreciate a direct support, because standard form support is not working for me :(.

child account

Hi,

I went to redownload an app (adobe reader) and had to accept the new Microsoft terms of service but couldnt because apparently my account is a child account. I sorted out the terms of service by logging in as my mum to verify/accept on my behalf, but I want to know how to remove this restriction. When I opened my account I was a child, however now I am 19 and it is really frustrating when I can't do simple things like accept the new terms of service without jumping through hoops. I went to manage my account and couldnt find anything, I went to manage my mums account and found a section about child accounts but there were none listed. Also in my account I can create child accounts, which would be strange/stupid if my account was actually a child account.

I remember having this issue a while back when something changed with Xbox and I thought I had fixed it when I got the onlinesettings on the Xbox to be that of ah adult account but obviously not.

Thanks in advance for any help.

James

I don’t have a child account on my computer but it keeps telling me I have to give permission.

I don't have a child account on my computer and when I try to play games it tells me I have to have my parents permission. So I go to another email account and sign in as parent to give permission thinking that will stop it but then it tells me I don't have a child account! HELP!

DOB is incorrect and unchangeable

Hello Cliff,

My name is Okkanym. I have accidentally, as other users have explained under the thread entitled "DOB is incorrect and unchangeable", changed my date of birth to 2013 and am unable to access my account, because it became a child account without a parent administrator and I am an adult, using my account for the past 7 years.
I am creating a new thread because the option to "reply" to the existing one is grey.
I understand the procedure of the fax that you have explained. However, due to the long wait and delay, would you be able to expedite the process? And/or are there other procedures I can take?

I will appreciate a prompt response, as I am unable to access my email.

Regards,

Okkanym

Somehow, I converted my alternate hotmail account to a child account and now I can’t get in. What do I do?

I cannot find a workaround anywhere.  I tried doing an account recovery, but all that did was let me change the password.  I still get a screen that says "You need a parent's permission."  I then get asked to provide my credit card information, my address, etc. and pay $0.50!  It's never been a child account, so I shouldn't be forced to verify it as such.  Does anyone know where I can go to regain access to my account?  I've only seen found link where moderators said to go in a separate thread, but those links are broken.  Please help, as I cannot get my emails anymore.

Thanks

Adding child account – adult verification keeps failing

I'm trying to allow my son's email account - the "verify you're an adult" stage keeps failing with the message:

Verify that you're an adult

When you verify your age with a credit card, Microsoft charges the card a one-time fee of $0.50 (50 cents), and a portion of the fee is donated to charity.

I tried yesterday and again today but it is still failing. Can this be fixed please?

Parent Credit Card Verification?

02. September 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: child account, outlook email settings, Parent Credit Card Verification
So I was looking at my outlook email settings such as age, and it ticked the age to 2013, therefore I'm now a child account. So I tried to sign in, but I needed to verify myself with another email. So I created one, and now it asks to verify my normal account with a credit-card. Problem is, I don't have one. Please tell me a way out of this, or another verification like phone number.
