I have missed some email attachments due to overlooking the addition of the scrollbar in the message. I know that I can also hover over the message icon to get an attachment count, but it isn't habit since I usually don't receive multiple attachments. To prevent this in the future, I've set an alert for all email messages with attachments (overkill!) until I can train myself to look for these hidden (to me) attachments, but I really wish there were an easier way to catch these.

  I am getting a message saying that the attachments are blocked as "unsafe"

I cannot make the solution below work for me - there does not appear to be a "junk" tab on the live mail page. Can anyone help. I really need to receive attachments.

Mike.

  To always allow Mail to download and open all types of attachments
  1. Open Windows Live Mail by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type Mail, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Live Mail.
  2. On the Home tab, click Junk, and then click Safety options.

  3. Click the Security tab, and then, under Virus protection, clear the check box next to Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus, and then click OK.

I hope I'm not being to cryptic here, but I'm trying to convey the basic issue without typing up a novel...

I'm using Outlook.com with custom domains...

From a domain email account, I could previously send to a particular person@domain;
then this week I was not able to send to anyone in that domain;
I added the user(s) and eventually @domain to my safe senders list and I could send basic text emails, but none with attachments (we are only sending .pdf's) and the .pdf's are less than 300k.

Looking at 'view message source' of my bounce message from "*** Email address is removed for privacy ***"
The lines in the message that stand out to me are:
---------- START SNIP
Final-Recipient: rfc822;*** Email address is removed for privacy ***
Action: failed
Status: 5.5.0
Diagnostic-Code: smtp;550 permanent failure for one or more recipients (firstname.lastname@RecipientDomain.ca:blocked)
--------- END SNIP

***As of this writing, I'm having doubts that the recipient is receiving any of our emails, with or without attachments.  I just don't get a bouncback from the emails with out attachments.

As far as I can tell, both the sending and receiving domains are not on any sort of block lists;
the recipient domain's email is hosted by barracudanetworks.com and they are not blocking the sending domain.
I can send to the recipient domain from another domain with out issues.

We are using the outlook.com via Internet Explorer or Chrome -  this is not via an email client such as Outlook.
How do I ensure that outlook.com for domains IS NOT blocking the ability to send to the recipient domain?
Can anyone shed any light?

hi
since a couple of hours everyone who tried to email me receives a failure delivery email,I think only when an attachment is attached. Also when i try sending emails with attachments they dont show in my sent items anymore. Only small text only messages seems to feed through properly.
anyone else experiencing this? can you fix pls?

Hi,

Following up on the issue I reported in http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/winphone/forum/wp8-wpemail/mails-with-attachments-are-not-pushed-to-device/0c9a9291-e933-4253-ad10-791aae78bc07

After further testing I can confirm the issue also includes Outlook 2013.

Reminding:
If I send an email from one of my alias (non Outlook.com address) to myself and if that email has an attachment - it doesn't get pushed to my WP8 device nor to Outlook 2013. The email itself is received in my account (I can access Outlook.com and the email is there, but it doesn't get pushed to the device nor to Outlook 2013 client. Emails sent from the same alias to myself but without attachments get pushed with no problem.

Any help? Thank you.

File attachments created from Office 2010 now show up as "Prohibited file type. This message contains an attachment whose file type is considered dangerous. The file has been deactivated". This was not a problem yesterday.  I have Office starter on this computer.

My outlook.com account wont send OR receive emails with attachments beginning about 5 days ago.  I have tried different browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox) and have had people from several different email accounts (and different hosts like Yahoo) try to send me emails with attachments of varying size and type.  They all get a Delivery Status Notification Failure notice.  There isn't a code in that email or anything.  It just says that delivery to the email has failed.  And when I try to send an email I get the same notice.  I can't figure out what to do.  It's worked fine for the last 3 years but now all of the sudden I can't get any emails with attachments and I can't send any emails with attachments.  Help please :)!
This is a recent problem.I have tried converting the attachments to every possible type and still the receiver can't open them
We are having a persistent issue, as this only affects one of our users on MacBook.
He has Office for Mac 2011 installed and cannot seem to save recieved attachments.
Though it is weird, it only applies to .pdf files and .xlsx

This issue is really urgent and needs to be resolved without affecting user files. (as this is the director of the company)
We are using Exchange server and the account is connected via Exchange.

Has anyone else had these problems, and is there a solution for this?
We have tried almost every solution found in this community page.

Control+Click opens the context menu every option to Save the attachment is grayed out and impossible to click.

Saving attachments from OWA works and they are available for download.
