Apple Mail 6.5 cannot archive Outlook.com messages

23. September 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account type, Apple Mail
I set up IMAP as my account type and I can send and receive messages, but I cannot archive a message from within Apple Mail. Any message I archive in Apple Mail, stays on Outlook.com

Any suggestion?

Xbox Live new TOS parental account loop

19. September 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account type, parental approval
I haven't used Xbox Live for quite some time, but when I try to log on, I'm asked to agree to the new privacy policy. I'm then asked for parental approval (I'm over 18 now, but I can't get in to change the account type), and then get caught in an infinite loop of accepting the agreement and needing parental approval.

I can provide any information needed apart from parental accounts info as the account has been deactiviated since it hasn't been used for over 5 years. Thank you in advance.

Where did my Hotmail address go?!?

I made my *** Email address is removed for privacy *** my primary yesterday and just learned that it has the following effect:

How does an account rename affect my Windows Phone 7?

On your phone, features that use the new @Outlook.com address will stop working, including Marketplace, Xbox LIVE, SkyDrive, email, and others. To use these features again on your phone, you'd need to restore it to factory settings, which erases all personal content. You will need to set up the phone using your new account. For more information on resetting your phone go here.  Please note, You should choose Windows Live as the account type when going through the Windows Phone 7 setup after resetting the device.  Choosing Outlook as the account type , although intuitive, is not the correct selection.

I seriously don't have the time to re-install apps and set everything up again, so I just want to switch it back.

When I go back into my account settings, all my aliases have disappeared and (despite being told I would be able to login with my Hotmail address), I can't log in with the Hotmail address...

Is there any way I can switch back?

(And why do I have to switch to Chrome or Firefox to post from my Windows 8 Surface Pro?? Why won't the damn buttons work in Windows 8 with IE??)

Cannot add POP/IMAP account to Outlook – but Exchange works fine. Seem to be missing the window to enter login info.

Cannot add POP/IMAP account to Outlook - but Exchange works fine. Seem to be missing the window to enter POP/IMAP login info.

This is a new installation of Office 2011 on OS X 10.8.

I've used the same installation of Office 2011on OS X 10.6.8 and it worked perfectly. It's not a login issue. I can send and receive mail on that system no problem.

The symptoms are: I can add an Exchange account and it works fine. A window appears for me to enter information.

However when I try to select the "E-mail" account type (i.e. POP/IMAP). No window appears. The buttons on the Accounts window change as if there is a modal dialog open. Hitting escape re-enables the minimize, maximize, and close buttons.

You can see see screen shots here:
01 Adding Exchange Account (no problems, works as expected)
02 Selecting POP-IMAP Account (no problems, other account type is selected)
03 No window visible (problem - note condition of window buttons. but there's no place to enter POP/IMAP login info)

Tonight I completely removed Office 2011 following the instructions here (as suggested at the Genius bar). Then I completely reinstalled. Same issue as before. I can add Exchange accounts all day long, but no window appears when trying to add POP/IMAP accounts.

Regards,

Tom
