Windows 10 Mail automatically downloaded a PDF attachment infected with a trojan virus from a phishing email. The file was saved onto my hard drive in LocalState user files where I later found other benign attachments collected. My current theory is that Mail caches all attachments this way but frustratingly It’s been hard to get a confirmation from support. I have found no option to disable this behaviour so far. This seems a huge and unnecessary security risk to me.
How can I prevent automatic email attachment downloads?
Why is this on by default?
Will this option be reset the next time Windows 10 updates?
Why is support unfamiliar with this issue?
Since the desktop "beta" version became standard I am unable to view or download attachments or forward the email with attachments. I have to use my phone and a 3rd party app to forward any emails with attachments to my GMail address in order to access them.
Every time MS decides to launch an update it creates all sorts of problems.
I already tried the various suggestions given to other users. I had NO problems before the switch to beta and have not added any programs or changed settings in my security/firewall programs.
The one solution so far - has been using apps OTHER than Microsoft.
This might very well be the last straw that sees me going to GMail for all my email
why can I not download windows live essentials 2012, specifically windows movie maker?
Good Day
Since Monday I have sent various emails from Windows Live Mail which appear in my sent box, but aren't being received?
I have also noticed a completely strange quirk, which makes it BARELY usable...but not really. If, at any point during composing the email, I click and drag to highlight any test...even if just two letters...then, for the rest of that message, the right click on the underlined words works as normal. But if I don't, then it doesn't work. To me, this makes absolutely no sense, and I can't even begin to figure out what could be causing such a thing. But it is very annoying and has led me to try other e-mail clients. Many of which I prefer, actually, but they all have one quirk that is work. Usually that they can't keep up with my typing when it comes to adding my contacts. So if I type my contact too fast and tab right away, it doesn't bring up the contact and then fails when I try to send saying it is not formatted properly since it is just the person's first name. So, unfortunately, I am reluctantly stuck with Windows Mail. But this annoyance is starting to get almost as annoying as having to slow down when typing my contacts.
Note: IT happens on all version of Microsoft mail programs. But I prefer to use the older Windows Live Mail because Windows Mail is horrible, like every Windows 10 app. But even that has the issue.
