I want to make a simple movie with just two effects - a fade in from black at the start and a fade out to black at the end. I would have thought this was about as simple a task as you can carry out. Cannot do it. I have put the fade in at the start of the movie. I drag the cursor to the end of the movie. I click on video effects and the cursor simply jumps back to the start. It will not stay at the end of the movie or offer me a fade out effect.
