I recently updated the Mac OS to version 10.8.1 (mountain lion) and the office reminders pulled all old calendar events and now I cannot remove them. Please help.

I upgraded to Mountain Lion OS (10.8.1) and now Office Reminders is repeating past calendar events and updating the calendars.  How do I cure this problem?
