I recently signed up for outlook.com email. I've had problems sending mail (account is temporarily blocked) and attempts to verify the account fail. I'm blocked from forwarding an email because the account isn't "verified" but attempts to verify fail. Now I find that emails with attachments are not reliably getting through to me. Two emails that displayed on my iPhone that had attachments were never visible in either the web client or Apple Mail or the Outlook desktop client. Then they mysteriously disappeared from my iPhone, Outlook and the web client. On the web client, they're not in junk, deleted items or anywhere else. Later they mysteriously again re-appeared in the trash. I moved them back to my inbox and a few minutes later... Back in the trash. Either way, when I click on the message, the attachment doesn't show anywhere where I can download them. Both are extremely important, both are purchase orders from my customers. When I moved them back to the inbox and they showed up momentarily on my iPhone and Outlook, the attachments have a file size of 0 KB! I know Microsoft is trying to protect me from spam, but this is just amazingly absurd.

Getting technical support has been a nightmare. I post a question only to be answered 24 hours later. Except that I never get an answer to my questions! I have to post a reply which takes another 24 hours for yet another irrelevant reply! Example: When I try to validate my account, I get a message that a code could not be sent. Reply: try and validate your account by providing a telephone number. And so it goes.

I set up outlook.com as a test prior to signing up the entire company on an Office365 hosting plan. But this experience has been so fraught with frustration that I can't possibly recommend Microsoft to my company for email hosting.
