Today when I tried to send an email using Windows Live Mail the mail went to my Outbox and I could not send it and I got the error message listed below. I can receive email but not send email.

I only had this problem starting today and I have used Windows Live Mail for a few years and this just happened today and I did not make any changes to my computer.

I contacted brighthouse tampabay and they checked my email and I went to their portal and I could send email using the  brighthouse.com site. There were no problems at all but when I tried the Window Live Mail again I still could not send any email. How do I fix this vexing problem.

I tried some of the suggestion found on this site and they did not correct the problem.

What I tried: I put a check mark on 'My server requires Authentication'; and I changed the SMPT from 25 to 587 these did not correct the sending problem.

What do I do next?

The message could not be sent. The setting for your outgoing email [SMTP] server might need to be configured. To find the server settings for *** Email address is removed for privacy ***', please contact your email service provider.
