I keep getting a error that says: Messages could not be received at this time.  The server for account "Windstream" returned the error "invalid user name or password.." Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?

Sometimes I close everything down and start over and other times I just try sending an email and it works and then after that all is well for a few days.  Anyone know what this is about?  I'm using Office 2011 for Mac.

Here is my problem.  My work computer automatically updated to the latest version of Mac OSX and it also did an update to Office 2016 before I had a chance to export what I had in Outlook 2011 to an .olm file.

I have my "main profile" files from Outlook 2011 (and I can see the directories with my old email files OLK15...) but how do go about either loading them into Outlook 2016 or reloading them to another computer that has Mac Outlook 2011 so I can do an export to an .olm file with I am guessing will be how it wants to be loaded into Outlook 2016?

I tried copying my "main profile" to another Mac that had Outlook 2011 and ran the Microsoft database utility but it just sent up a new blank "main profile" and copied the profile I copied (with all my old emails) over to a backup version.

To make this work...

  • Do I need to have an account setup in Outlook 2011 first or not?
  • Do I need to have the account exactly match the account that I had before to make the database utility work?

Open to any and all suggestions.

I've searched the forum and am concluding I may be stuck.  But I want to ask and confirm if that conclusion is correct.

I'm running Outlook 2011 for Mac and the entire system had to be rebuilt.  I *was* able to save all the data in the Microsoft User Data folder.  So I have all my archived emails from before the rebuild.  (And there are a ton.)

I'm concluding from previous posts here that importing those into the new Outlook instance is very difficult.....if not impossible.  Is that *really* the case?  Seriously?  I saved all those messages and they're basically useless?

Thanks.

Jim

Hi!

My Mac was running slowly so I did a system restore from scratch but made sure I had a good Time Machine back up. I checked with the help line at Microsoft and they said I would be able to restore my email accounts and history from the Microsoft User Data folder.

When I went to reinstall Office 365 Home Premium it installed the 2016 version, I had 2011 before.

I now can't see where the information is that I need to import to the newly installed version and if I do find it I'm not sure how to bring it in so that my Outlook accounts and emails will be restored.

The .olm file I imported just sits in the sidebar as a folder for me to view old emails but doesn't update with new ones.

I also tried setting up one of the accounts again as it's map so will sync with the godaddy account where it is hosted but it keeps telling me the username or password is incorrect. It isn't, I've tried, checked and rechecked but without success.

So, in summary, I need to import the email addresses into the newly installed Outlook 2016 and what do I do if, once they're installed, it continues to tell me the user name and/or password is incorrect?

Outlook for Mac 2011 will not start it gets to the choosing a profile stage then stop and says an unknown error has occurred. Then regardless of what I do it won't start.

I've already copied and rebuilt the databases without success.

Should I re-install?

Any ideas?

I have both Outlook for Mac 2011 and 2016 and i need to transfer the mailboxes to mail in El Capitan. I understand that before El Capitan it was easy but not finding a way to do it for El Capitan. Thanks
After 200 or so of the emails had been deleted, I realized I was deleting emails from the wrong folder and tried to stop the operation.  I have tried to 'force quit' multiple times but everytime I reopen outlook, it is completely unresponsive.  I am even unable to send the error report to Microsoft.  Does anyone know how can I correct this problem?  TY

Simple question:

How do I save/export the LIST of addresses in an Outlook 2011 Contact GROUP?

The Contact Groups are only stored locally so I want to export the LIST - I do not want to export all the contacts.

If I can't do it (no answer found via Google) how can I achieve the same thing? I thought I might mark all the addresses with a new category, export all Contacts, then extract those addresses with the new category.

That should work, however can I/how do I select ALL the addresses in the Contact Group in one go and mark them all with the new category? There are 450 addresses so I don't want to edit each one individually.

Failing that, any other ideas?

Thanks
