I have not used Outlook for ages, I use Apple Mail, but I want to look at my old Outlook (and Entourage emails). I have backups called Main Identity. How do I get at the stuff in them, using either Outlook 2011 or 2016? The MS help pages talk about importing  .pst files, but I can't see these in my backups. I am sure I am missing something obvious.

I am having an issue creating a rule to move data out of the inbox into an archive folder.

I want to move info prior to 2010 into a new folder.

I enter the rule as any messages older than 2190 days and set the folder and save.

When I go back into the rule,, the days are at 2

Any suggestions?

I have installed all the latest patches

When creating new email, as soon as I start typing contact name into To: box, the Contacts drop down appears and then immediately disappears before I can choose the name?  This has only just started happening??

How can I stop my received attachments going to Word online please?  Previously the were opened via my downloads and I want to revert to that arrangement.  Thanks in advance

First of all - sorry for my bad English!

Nearly two years ago I bought an iMac.
I bought Office 365 too.

One year later I changed from Office 365 to an another version (€ 58,-).

In February I installed the new version. Last week Outlook stopped working - I don't know why but I can't open anymore.

Word, Excel, Powerpoint are working perfectly only Outlook doesn't run.

I tried to install Office again but it failed . . .

The Microsoft-Hotline told me that I have to uninstall Office first to install new.
Before uninstalling Office I have to secure my old Mails I have in Outlook.

No one at the Microsoft-Hotline could help me - except the advice to try this community.

I'm not very familiar with computer and I have no idea what to do.

My questions:

  • how can I secure my old Mails without being able to open Outlook?
  • is it really necessary to uninstall before a new installation?
    - a friend of mine told me that you can rename of file: "com.microsoft.office.licesing.plist" and afterwards you can install new -
  • if it is necessary to uninstall - how does it work?

Thank you for your help in advance . . .

best regards

Friedhelm

I have MS Outlook for mac updated version 14.6.7 installed on OS X El Capitan 10.11.6. The program suddenly stop responding and I was only getting spinning wheels. I could not even access the Finder and Force Quit the Outlook Application. I had to manually turn of the computer and restart. Once i restarted the computer the Outlook would not open. MS Word and MS Excel and other MS Office programs are working. How can i reopen MS Outlook again.

thanks

Today I wanted to check my emails but unfortunately after restarting my computer when I started outlook it came blank. All my 17 gig emails had disappeared. I checked in documents folder there was a new folder named as microsoft user data. Before I had Main Identity folder only.

Each time I start outlook it wants to build a new identity folder and this folder always creates Microsoft User Data named file and under this there is Main identity, but it keeps creating new identity data base folder.

finally I copied all data to this folder and fresh started the outlook but this time it gives me the error message that these data are older version and I should rebuild identity by using the older version.

I don`t know what to do.

Can any one help me.

Bonjour,

Merci d'avance !
