I tried to set up my Outlook.com email on my smart phone's email client, and while I have no issues with the initial set up for my Outlook.com account using the IMAP instructions/settings provided by Microsoft, once set up it will not automatically sync when using "Push" settings (e.g. when I receive emails, it will not show up in the email client unless I manually "poll" or refresh.

My question is, can anyone confirm whether Outlook.com supports Push technology when using IMAP settings?  Or can I only use IMAP if I set the email client to Poll periodically (which is less "instant" than using Push)?

As further background, I am using an Android smartphone (version 4.1).  I have attempted to set up Outlook.com via IMAP for both the stock email client (made by Motorola) and the third party "K9" email client.  Neither seems to sync my Outlook.com email when using "Push".  Of note, I have successfully set up other email accounts (ie gmail) on both email clients using IMAP.  For those accounts, syncing via Push has never been issue - only an issue for my Outlook.com account.  I know that Microsoft feels that EAS is the preferred syncing method, however the email client I want to use does not seem to support the latest EAS protocol and so I am stuck with IMAP for the moment.

I appreciate any help.

I'm receiving email from someone using my name, what does his mean? what should i do? have I been hack? and it appears as if it's coming from my email address.
Hi, I'm cute girl.

screen shot:

I have opened my hotmail inbox to find only a few message left from the last few months. Normally there would be quite a few pages of them. I have not deleted them. But suddenly they are not there. How do I get them back????

Chris

I received an apparant begging letter from a friend abroad, I replied but asked questions got no answer so realised it was fake. Everything appears OK (I have changed passwordchecked deletions, etc) but am worried that my cotact list may have been copied.

How can I send an email to everyone on the list to warn them not to open a begging letter apparantly from me.

Any help much appreciate.

Deirdre

Why am I getting this "error" message:

Your messages are in your POP folder! Some other program is set to download and delete your messages from Outlook. Just in case this was an accident, we've put them in a special POP folder. Not an accident? Change settings
How can I stop this program from deleting my email messages?
Firstly, my apologies as this issue appear to be an old topic.  However, I am unable find a solution in the discussion threads.

Story:

I recently tried to leave Gmail (after using it for about a decade) and give MS email a try just to reduce my dependence on Google products and make it harder to them to target me with ads.  I set up my Gmail account to forward emails to a Live.com account that I have.

Before I even sent my first email I am blocked "due to unusual activity".  I can still receive emails but I can't send emails.

I am asked to verify my account by providing MS with my cell phone number.  I have read their privacy policy but I feel strongly about giving my cell number to MS if I don't have to.  I suspect they will store this on a database and run lots of analytics to better target me with ads.

I contacted support.microsoft.com and I have a support call open but the Escalation Agent said everything is working fine. I have send the MS support screen dumps of the error message and this has been going on for a week.

Any ideas?  I am strongly thinking of closing down this account and move to another email provider.

Hi,

I just did a fresh install of the OS, with new partitions, with skydrive empty and turned off AND YET I STILL HAVE the old Windows/IE preferences in this new install...............

What am I doing wrong, any idea?

Thank you.

If I create a new appointment in Outlook 2007 and enter description details e.g. an address with each line of the address on a new line, the appointment syncs with the online Outlook.com calendar fine, except, when I view the appointment again in Outlook 2007 or online Outlook.com, a blank line has been inserted between each line in the description details.

If I delete the blank lines in Outlook 2007 and save, all is OK until sync occurs, and the blank lines are re-inserted.

What and why are these blank lines inserted? Please advise?
