Yesterday i deactivated my old account and then signed in to my regular account and all off my emails and folders have been deleted, is there a way i can get them back as all my work is based on there? also i received an email from outlook saying welcome

I am hoping that someone can help as I am going round in circles!
I am trying to access my older hotmail account which I set up about 10 years ago.
I know the email address and password, but when I signed in it asked me to verify I am the owner.
I haven't had to log into the account directly for quite some time as it used to be linked to my newer live account, but since the link has been removed this is the first time I've tried to log back in. I rarely sent emails from it, but family members
oversees and older friends seem to use this account to send my emails to and it is linked to some other websites.
Due to setting the account up a decade ago, I can no longer remember the answer to the security question, it was not linked an xbox live account, i don't remember any folders I created and I certainly can't remember the subject of the last few emails I
sent. The alternate email set up on the account, which I foolishly assumed would have changed when it was linked to my newer live account is the account I had prior to the hotmail account and no longer exists.
Please let me know if anything can be done. There must be someone with access that can verify that it was linked to my current account or I can speak to to provide human verified details of the content of the account to (such as a picture of me as the
profile on the account!)

To explain I have been using 3 school email addresses for the past few years previously in Hotmail and now the new Outlook.com....
All of a sudden yesterday in Outlook.com I cant send to these 3 addresses all of these end in *** Email address is removed for privacy *** (obviously I cant post the whole address here)....
I received 2 emails from two of these addresses yesterday and when replying I got an undelivered message back....?
Anyone know why this would be - especially when using gmail this am - I sent and received replies back from the schools this morning...?
So it seems outlook.com is the only issue and not the actual address?
Ive looked on forums but cant get an answer to this...?
Can anyone help - as I need really need these addresses working to organise timetables etc.. with teachers....

I have been trying to set my outlook.com account to forward emails
It asks me to verify by sms, I do this, and it accepts it and says the account is verified, but when I go back to the forward page it just asks me to do it again
Seems like a bug

When I try and delete my Microsoft account I get the message "You need to cancel any paid services or Microsoft Points account associated with your Microsoft
