So recently, I just deleted Windows Essentials since I never used any of the applications included with it that much. I notice that there were some files in My Documents that I had never seen before until recently. These files were "My Weblogs" and "My Received Files" they were created on the same day according to what it said in properties, and on that day I believe is when I downloaded Essentials. So my question is if it is okay for me to delete these two folders since I think they may have just been apart of Essentials?
hi my name is john and i know nothing about computers i am trying to find someone to connect to my system and set settings or fix problems can any one help

I have a LifeChat LX-3000, hence the title. The headset works fine, I can hear. But the microphone just won't work what so ever, no matter what I try.

Yes it is un-muted

Yes the drivers are updated

I tried everything I could. Re-installing it countless times with no luck at all.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

I mean, this is just too idiotic for words,... You build an entire Windows (8, 8.1,...) on the Windows Live Credentials, making it even worthy logging in to your computer, and then you go and outsource it's messaging capabilities to buggy, very limited and incompetent-at-what-it's-trying-to-be third-party apps like Skype. I mean, c'mon... You could have gone and build the whole messaging service into Windows, making it one big 'Live' system,... You could have linked XBOX friends with your MSN list (Adding friends on MSN makes them XBOX friends and the other way around.),... You could have used the personal message thingie for XBOX ratings, scores, or rated position in your friends list,... You could have used it as base for XBOX(-to-pc)-messaging,... You could have done so much with it, but instead you went the complete opposite direction, not only limiting your selves and your Windows Live sign-in, you even gave it to a third-party, which I suddenly am supposed to trust with my Windows credentials too (which also is another service that can be hacked), that doesn't even have 1/100th of the functionality that MSN/WLM used to have. You officially killed off your trust in the whole Live credentials sign-in, killed off any users MSN/WLM used to have (because nobody likes Skype!) and eventually successfully destroyed the whole use of the messenger service and it's userbase.

And this just raises one question for me:

Are you guys at Microsoft complete idiots or just plain stupid?

Grtz,

This is a new question for me.  I have "Skype" and don't want it, at all.  Would much prefer to have Live Messenger.  Can anyone help?  Windows 7 Ultimate SP 1.

So how does Messenger work? I want to be able to use it like texting on the iPad or an alternative to that. Why did Microsoft erase it in W8.1? Does Skype do the EXACT same thing Messenger did? Why do I have to pay to write a message or do a call because I can just use google hangouts or something else?

Oh and sorry if this is the wrong forum for this post...Thanks

on a server,

how do i get rid of these?

Dear Madam/Sir, I created a hotmail accoun in 1996 but I hardly ever used it. In fact, as far as I know, the last time I got an (non-junk) email was in 2010 and the last time I sent an email was in 2003. I am now keen on starting to use it frequently but I'm having problems logging in. In the first place, I'm not sure about the password and when I tried some passwords I thought were correct it didn't work (now I'm getting a "You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect email address or password." message). So in order to retrieve my password I filled in an "account verification form". I filled in a couple of these forms but I got the message "our automated system has determined that the information you provided was not sufficient for us to validate your account ownership". The problem is that because I haven't used this account for such a long time -and I barely used it back then anyway- there's hardly any information to fill in the form and the little there may be I don't remember it all (eg, there're no 'recently' sent emails, I probably never created any folders or just very few which I cannot remember, there's no billing information, etc). What I do have, though, is some of the last emails that were sent to or from the hotmail account that I'm trying to get back into. I hope this is sufficient in order for me to be able to access my account again? If so, please let me know how I should proceed in order to send those emails over as proof that I am the owner of this email account. Many thanks in advance.

When my Norton360 ran out I installed Microsoft Security Essentials but since then I've been unable to get onto the internet.

The message I get is:-

THE PROXY SERVER ISN'T RESPONDING.

CHECK PROXY SETTINGS 127.0.0.1:58226 FROM CHARMS, GO TO CHANGE PC SETTINGS>NETWORK>PROXY.

MAKE SURE FIREWALL SETTINGSAREN'T BLOCKING YOUR WEB ACCESS.

I've tried to follow the directions but nothing is being fixed as it stays as it is.

Please help as I'm not sure exactly what to do.
