After many months of smooth operation, I got repeated error messages on incoming mail (Socket  error10061; error no. Ox88CCCOE). following suggestions on this site I deleted my account on Windows Mail (Vista) and restablished it with the same settings that had worked before.  Rebooted. Now I can neither send nor receive.  I am using ATT in and out, port 110 inbound, 465 outbound.  Also tried 25 inbound.  nothing works.   This seems to be a common problem judging from the thread.  what is the solution?

BTW: website mail and I phone mail are working fine:  this only impacts Windows mail.

I have a new computer with windows 8.1.

I had the tech set up my old windows live mail  (Verizon account) on my new computer.  I also set it up in Outlook. The (Verizon mail account) in windows live mail  worked great for a while. I am now having problems with my windows live mail. Sometimes it works other times it is hung up on receiving messages and I never receive them.

But, if I go to the Outlook account I can see the mail, and if I go to my providers website I can see the mail. But it won't download in Windows Life Mail.

I cannot send or receive messages because of this...

Unable to send or receive messages for the Neo.rr (cmitchell24) account. The connection to the server has failed.

Server: 'pop-server.neo.rr.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10060

Could you help me resolve this?  I can access this email from home but not when I am away. (as I am now)

I got word that my email was hacked and people were getting emails from me that I did not send.  I checked my email and this is the message I get and keep getting:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Verizon (sprakers) account. The connection to the server has failed.

Server: 'incoming.yahoo.verizon.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10061

Originally I went to Verizon.net to address the hacking.  I opted to change my password but now I am locked out of the website.

Help!!!!

I used to send emails with music backsound when my PC had Windows XP OS and MS Outlook Express on. Can we do the same with Windows Live Mail ?
Hello
We have a society newsletter and we cannot seem to get Windows Live Mail, that comes with Windows 8.1, to send out to the category (group) of 45. We have a Shawmail account and we had no trouble before switching to a new computer, even when moments later we sent out a second message on the same day because we forgot to attach the newsletter.
Just wondering if there is a limit to the # of emails in a category or if anybody has a resolution to make this work.
Thanks

The current form demands newly created folders or SENT mail, only.

The problem is that I never created any folders, and I never send mail through that account. It is for ebay/paypal, and in the few years i've had that account, I doubt if i've sent 5 total emails, none recently enough to recall.
I do however know precisely my user name from ebay account, and the precise information that paypal would show in the header. I could even tell them what my most recent ebay transactions are. But none of that helps when none of that involves sent mail.

What maddens me here, is that this account was only locked after I had logged onto it from my girlfriends house.
The very next time I logged on from my account, I got that wonderful warning that it appears someone else is using my account! The irony of course is that it wasn't locked when I used it at my girlfriends, only when I tried to use it again at home.
So what, we're not allowed to be mobile with live mail? And this is the second time this has happened in the identical way. The first time was another commerce account that I also logged onto from another IP address, but this was right after the new live mail rollout, when there was far more customer support available to us.
Now every single link sends you to the very same reset page that asks the same questions about SENT mail.
