We downloaded WLMail onto our Windows8 computer.  Now when we bring up Windows Live Mail it automatically downloads all our emails AND marks the first one as read.

How do we turn off both of these functions?  We don't want to automatically sync or mark a message as read.

I'm trying to add a Yahoo mail account to my Windows Live Mail client and, in running through the wizard to add a new account, it is asking me to confirm the incoming server address and outgoing server address.  I know these things are normally fairly standard strings for each product but does anyone know the details I need to put in for a yahoo mail account?  Any help gratefully received.
Thanks.
Hello,

I would like to know if there is any way to prevent limited account users of Windows 7 from setting up new email accouns in Windows Live Mail.

I assume there might be some changes to do in the registry keys but what changes?....

Thank you.

Hi

I am also having problems with my password in Windows Live Mail. I set up a new email address a couple of days ago with my ISP, and it works fine on their webmail page, it also works ok on my phone and tablet. I put the details into Windows Live Mail, and it keeps asking me for my username and password. I keep clicking ok but the box keeps coming back. If I click cancel, it says that I entered an incorrect password but I know that I haven't. I phoned Microsoft this morning and the man wouldn't help me, he just pointed me to this website. The error message is as follows :

Unable to send or receive messages for the Talktalk(nutty102) account. An incorrect password was entered.

Server Error : 0x800CCC90

Server Response :-ERR Authentication failed

Server : mail.talktalk.net

Windows Live Mail Error ID : 0x800CCC92

Protocol : POP3

Port : 110

Secure(SSL) : No

Any assistance would be gratefully received.

Thank you.

When exporting contacts to a file, are the groups (mailing lists) associated with the contacts saved. After I make changes to the exported file and import then back to Windows Live Mail, I want to know if the contact groups will still be there.
I have a Windows Live Mail account.  Can I add an account to which emails may be sent to my wife?
Out of the blue My ipad started asking me to re enter my hotmail password, which I did and it said incorrect. I then reset the password successfully but then when I tried to login to it Again it said it was incorrect. My account was then locked so I submitted the form trying to unblock it and after 3 attempts they will not unblock it. I entered in all of the info (eg last sent emails, subjects, my details etc) after 3 attempts it is now permanently blocked. I have had the account for 15yrs and can't afford to lose all of my emails. Can anyone suggest how to gain access?!
Recently, mail essentials is 'always on top'. Running Win 7, 64x, Essentials - Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3555.0308).
I must minimize mail to get it out of the way. Mail always stay in the foreground and will not go behind any other window.
This was an option in the task manager, however I see no place to make 'mail' not 'be on top' . What gives?
Dan
I've been using windows live mail to download messages  for a non Hotmail email account for a number of years. Having not used it for a number of months, i had a large number of emails on the email server waiting to download.  When I logged in today, it got as far as "downloading list of emails" in the status bar, but no further and  I'm unable to send or receive emails from windows live mail.

I have verified all the account settings with the email provider and they've concluded the windows live mail account is "corrupt".  I've since uninstalled and re installed windows live mail and with no success.  Any support in restoring the account, and retrieving any emails, would be appreciated.
