I had a notification in the systray a couple of hours ago that Live Essentials had an update. I ran this but noticed as soon as it had installed that the Live Mail icon disappeared from the taskbar. I can not access my Windows Live Mail at all. There is a blank file icon in the programs list but it will not open. I have tried a system restore but that will not complete, says a file is in use/disable AV. I have disabled my AV and system restore will still not complete even in safe mode., tried a few different restore points.

I have run a full AV scan and a malware scan with Malwarebytes, all clear. I reinstalled Windows Essentials ( it says I have the latest version anyway) but I still cannot run Live Mail.

Was there an update to Windows Essentials today or was it bogus?

Using win 7 & win Live Mail, I can receive e-mail but unable to send.

Receive the following from my ISP, shaw.ca;

The SMTP server returned an error.

Subject 'test 16/4'

Server Response: +OK POP3 ready

Server: 'mail.shaw.ca'

Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC60

Protocol: SMTP

Port: 110

Secure(SSL): No

Have spent hours with the ISP & they say everything at their end works. I am able to use their webmail without problems. Settings have been entered many times & the ISP confirms they are correct. Have attempted to repair windows essentials. Everything was working normally for months prior to this problem.

[Original title: Windows live mail]

Hi our computers hard drive crashed and techs could not recover anything.  They put a new hard drive in computer and I have installed Windows Essential so I can use windows live mail.  It recieved all my mail and sending fine, but my contacts have disappeared.  How can I retrieve them please?

Laptop - Windows 7 - Windows Live Mail

When I go to my e-mails I am getting a pop up window containing the above error message.

The emails that I can see listed are accessible as normal and I can send e-mails. However my inbox has not updated for the last couple of days.

My smart phone and tablet which are synced to WLM have also stopped receiving - They use Android 'Jelly Bean' as the O/S

Oddly my tired old desktop which is also sync'd to WLM is running XP is happily updating and send/receiving via Outlook.com.

I have seen numerous references to this exact error across the web and there are suggested fixes which usually included deleting the e-mail address and then re cresting it. However I don;t to do thid in case I lose vital data. In any case these 'fixes'apparently work for some but not others.

I had this issue a few weeks ago and after changing my password a few times it seemed to go away. However it's back and this time the 'pasword change fix' hasn't worked,

Please help as this is extremely frustrating.

I am currently using Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail for emailing. Over the last couple of days I have been unable to receive messages. I can retrieve them off of the internet and on my phone but not through my laptop using WLM. I am able to send messages. The messages will begin to be retrieved from the server but will abruptly stop during the download. I get the following error message: Unable to send or receive messages for account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, we need urgent help. My sisters hotmail seems to have a problem. She went to log in and it said it seems someone else have used the account or along those lines. She needed to have a code sent to her to sort it, but the code was only being sent to her email account only, the one she can't get in?

She have all her uni and jobs information going to her email she can no longer get in *** Email address is removed for privacy *** she really needs help as is upset by all this. When trying to do the forms to prove who she is she can't remember on of the question.

Please can someone help her fix this as she has never had a problem with her hotmail before........ please let me know what to do or let me know if you need to contact my sister. You will see she has been trying to sort

thanks

I am encountering the same issue, but I don't think the moderator understood.  I am trying to export messages from Windows Live Mail in order to import them into Outlook on a PC.  They are not going to an Exchange server.  I select the WLM Export function, then the Microsoft Exchange format.  WLM confirms that this will export the selected messages to "Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Exchange".  I confirm that, and WLM goes off and does something and reports success.  The problem is that it never tells me WHERE it puts the exported messages.  I looked in the Outlook Files in My Documents, not there.  It doesn't appear to be anywhere in the WLM area of the AppData directory.  And it doesn't even tell me the file type so that I can do a search.  Is it a .PST file?  I need to know where it is so I can point Outlook to it to import it.
Tried selecting them from the contacts list and typing them into the Add Person box on the group, but neither is working.  I've done this plenty of the times in the past.  Is there something wrong?

Hi, I am getting the error " A problem occurred whilst trying to open this message, a problem occurred please try again later".

I have tried the defrag option on the message store, done a clean install of WLM and tried the repair option from control panel, but nothing seems to work. Strangely, this started to happen in one folder when no matter which message I selected, the same message opened up ! Once I deleted this message, I was unable to access any other messages. If I import the messages into Outlook, the open with no errors !

I would be grateful for some help on this as it is driving me nuts !

Thanks
