I am running Windows 7 and Windows Mail Live is my default email.  When I open Live Mail, 3 columns are displayed.  From left to right those  columns are folders, list of emails in my inbox, and the view pane.  Whenever I click on an email in the list, the email is automatically opened.  How do I stop this from happening?

I have looked in options, but no such choice is there.  I want to be able to delete or junk an email BEFORE it is opened, to prevent any malware, viruses, or other unwanted actions from occurring.  Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Hello,  I've recently set up my WLM email as an IMAP account. It receives and sends email successfully. It places my "sent" messages in a "sent" folder with the correct subject line. But when I open those "sent" messages, the content is something completely different.  I think it comes from messages I've received and trashed.  This looks like an indexing problem?  Is there an easy way to correct it?  I have deleted the account and set it up again - that makes no difference. any guidance appreciated.

Original title: "sent" messages not really sent

I have a problem: In WLM, Updating calendar... keeps on flashing underneath my screen on the right. It also doesn't sync my mail, which is needed because I also deleted and added back my mail accounts in the program after finding out that repairing the program didn't work. Sending and recieving mail DOES work on outlook.com and in the Android app. What to do now?
why cant i get messages in windows live mail it shows i am singed in but still can not get messages for my account

Hi I am running Windows 8 on my laptop and have repeated issues with Windows live Mail not responding.

This happens if I have an attachment which I then click on or try to delete or simply attempt to move into text of the email by using the tab key.

Its very annoying as I often have written quite a lengthy email, then attached a picture and then tabbed back to text and it then stops responding. This ultimately means I have to retype text (if I can remember it all!).

Can you help?

Long story short: my hard drive crashed last week so I had to re-install Windows 8.1 (although I was using Windows 8 before) and then install Windows Live Mail.

When I'm in WLM and reading an email, the fonts are kind of weird in the sense that they are spaced much differently side by side (kerning).  Yet when I'm writing an email, everything looks fine.  Everywhere else on my computer (internet, MS Word), everything is fine as well.

I tried playing around with the "Read" settings in WLM, but nothing helped (changing fonts, etc).  Then I even restored Windows to an earlier time, that didn't help either.  Then I "repaired" Live Essentials, but that didn't do anything.

One thing I should say is that when I was re-installing Windows, I copied my old fonts from Windows 8.0 into the new Windows fonts folder and overrode what was there (since I have extra fonts).  Maybe I should not have done this, and just installed the new fonts.  But I can't imagine this is the problem since the fonts everywhere else, and even in WLM when writing an email, look fine.

The text on the left is written, and everything is fine.  Yet when I'm reading it (on the right), the spacing is different and more spread out.  I know it may not look like it here (since it's too small), but believe me, when I read it in 12 point in a paragraph, it looks very different.

And also, in some emails that I read, the fonts are even completely different fonts from the settings and even change to different fonts when I go back into WLM and the same email, which is very strange.

I spoke to someone else and they said it was an issue with the font kerning in Windows 8.1.  Also, I should say that my Magnifier tool in my Control Panel is set at 125%, but it was on my old Windows 8.0 and everything in Windows Live Mail was fine.

Do you know what the problem is?  Will I have to re-install WLM?

I was unable to add a name to my Windows Live contacts. I read an entry that said I should update Windows Live to get around this problem. When I tried to do so, the "Update" was not available to me, only the uninstall. Upon further reading, it sounded like this would be the way to do this, so I uninstalled Windows Essentials (including Mail, obviously). I assumed (stupidly, admittedly) that the reinstall would reconnect with all my former files and folders and contacts. Now I'm unable to download and install Live at all. I get messages stating that an install is already in progress, I get error message 0X80040607, and I am panicking that I've totally lost all my e-mail on Live -- even though I'm sure it's still on my computer somewhere. Please tell me how I can just get back to the point I was when I started all this. Being unable to update a contact seems like a trivial thing at this point... HELP???!!! I've seen some entries about deleting Live folders via a CMD uninstall, but I would like to ensure that if any of my e-mails/contact info/etc. are still on my disk, I can access them... Please tell me all is not lost.
