Lately every time I use the windows live mail application to send mail instead of the mail going to whom I send the mail is sent to myself and arrives in my inbox as if the person I was sending the email to was the sender. I have no idea how this could be happening but it is intensely weird
I'm having the same problems and don't know what to do so would like some help too. I've just installed a new pc and have windows 8.1 which I am not getting on well with and don't like the email system as worked very slow so downloaded windows live mail 2012 and really like the setup of this as similar to what I am used to when I had windows vista. I have set up all my email accounts (8 in total sky and yahoo mail) and I receive emails with no problem but unable to send any emails and get the below message
The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's email address. The sender's email address was ********** (deleted my email address)'.
Subject 'Swimming Lessons'
Server Error: 530
Server Response: 530 5.7.1 Authentication required
Server: 'smtp.tools.sky.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC78
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 465

Please can you help resolve this problem and is windows live mail 2012 the best email client to use with this view.
Regards and looking forward to your reply

My friend's user account (in Windows Vista) stopped working for some reason. I have access to all the data from that account but I don't know how to import contacts and email messages. Any ideas how to do it?
I am using Windows Mail ans have two service providers, Live and another account. The other account asked me to save the messages before they can make changes .
How do I do that.
I have almost 3000 messages in the Inbox and sent items.
I need urgent help.
Thanks
Pieter
I have Gmail set up in Live Mail in pop3 mode.
WLM doesn't seem to be deleting the messages from Gmail's trash folder.
Any way around this?

Using Windows Live Mail on an XP PRO machine. I would like to add a second e-mail address for my wife. No matter what kind of e-mail address and/or password I put in, it doesn't work. It will not send or receive e-mails. I constantly get asked for the name and password, but nothing seems to work. Everything else is set up exactly like my own and I have no problem. Any suggestions?
Lynn
Since December 2013, Windows Live Mail on several of our machines (both Win 7 HP SP1 and XP; and using different IMAP mailboxes) has stalled with “Your IMAP server has not responded within 60 seconds, …” when receiving into their Inboxes. When we finally give up and terminate the connection, we get an 0x800C006F. For those WLM clients with several mailboxes from the same IMAP email provider, typically most Inboxes are fine; only one (or rarely two) 'jam'.
This isn’t network congestion, because once it has happened, it never recovers. Completely removing all traces of WLM (all registry entries and data files in addition to the usual Win Uninstall) and reinstalling makes no difference whatever. Neither does installing a different version of WLM (we have tried from V14 [build 14.0,8117.0416] through V15 and V16, although the latest versions don’t of course run under XP). We have checked the three usual IMAP error culprits (machine date/time wrong, Hosts file entries and DLL registration). The problem still occurs with anti-virus and firewall software fully disabled and with a direct broadband connection (i.e. direct to the broadband modem, bypassing any router port or other blocking).
We am running out of options!
Some machines get as far as retrieving mail up to a particular date. Others retrieve all headers but only bodies up to a particular date. Still others retrieve all headers but no bodies.
However, each apparently hosed Inbox is readable by webmail and by Outlook 2010 and 2013!
[In passing, WLM is used on those particular machines because they need to share contact lists and calendars via Microsoft ActiveSync so cannot easily use another mail client apart from (chargeable) Outlook, and for other reasons cannot use outlook.com webmail]
Has anyone else experienced this?
I cannot delete emails from windows live mail 2012. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, repair install, and with deleting the registry keys to do a clean install. I even tried uninstalling 2012 and installing windows live mail 2011. No change.
The only thing I changed was adding an imap gmail account which was working fine. I also switched another account to imap. I've tried deleting the accounts and reinstalling them. No change.
The only way I can delete emails is to shift+del to hard delete the emails. When I hit the red x under the home menu it doesn't do anything. It's not greyed out, it has no response. I can move it to the deleted folder and it still won't delete there.
However, I can move it to the storage folder's deleted items and the red x will delete the message there but with the same message that I see as shift+del, that it will permanently delete the message.
I believe this is because the emails are now stuck as imap. How can I tell hotmail I no longer want to use imap, I want to use their deltasync?
This was working fine yesterday - I could hit the red x and it would delete any message, anywhere, fine. Today I can't delete anything.
Please help!
The other weird thing is that even after deleting the folders in AppData/local/Microsoft/Windows Live Mail and uninstalling, if I reinstall and add the email account, I see the emails instantly. Normally it should take a few minutes to download all the emails.
Update: my laptop with windows live mail 2012 installed on it is also having the same problem. Therefore, I believe it's the Hotmail telling my client that it's still imap when I don't want it to be. How do I change it back?
Help!?
I've been using WLM for approx 18months now with no issues. All of a sudden I'm getting error codes, but only with some mails. Equally, some mails are not getting further than my outbox but with no error code.
I'm receiving emails OK (I think anyway).
Can anyone help.... please??
(ps - I've read elsewhere that my 'server requires authentication' box should be ticked, it already is. No changes have been made to any settings at all lately. It's just stopped working)
