I am trying to back up the Windows Live Mail client program folders - inbox, sent, drafts. I have done this before, but cannot locate where these files are stored on my hard drive. I tried going to "c: //users/(myname)/local/applications/microsoft/windows live mail" but was unable to find the email folders.
Note - I am not trying to import these notes into another program. I only want to back them up to an external hard drive.
Does anyone know how I can do this? I am using Windows 8.1 and Windows Live Mail 2011 client program.
What happens to my e-mails and storage folders if I uninstall Windows Live Mail and then reinstall it?

I keep getting this error message in my windows live mail, even though I continue to send and receive most email. How can I stop this error message. I have contacted my provider (Comcast); they tried to fix it and told me it had to be a Microsoft problem. I don't have a clue how to "update the folder list."
"Unable to send or receive messages for the Comcast (~~~~) account. Header download for the 'Save' folder did not complete. Could not select 'Save' on the IMAP server. Try updating the folder list and then try again.
Server Response: SELECT failed

Dear Sirs / Madams
Microsoft Security Essentials - How do I prevent MSSE Service STOPPING during scans and the Scan halts permanently? Microsoft Security Client User Interface is not responding during part way through when running weekly scan.

I have 4 windows computers in my home. I upgraded all 4 windows 8.1 computers to windows 10. Each computer has 2 users, my wife and I, each with a separate login. Upon upgrading all 4 computers would not open up calendar or live/Hotmail accounts. I rolled one back to windows 8.1 so my wife and I could access our emails and calendar the others I just left as is in the hope that updates would correct the problem. Today 2 of the computers are working great and we can access our user accounts, email and calendar etc., however my Microsoft surface pro laptop/tablet only allows my wife to access her email and calendar while I can't get mine to open. I click on the start screen icon for mail or calendar and nothing happens although the tiles themselves are live. Any ideas on how to fix this? I won't update our 5 business computers or the one I rolled back at home until I have a fix for this problem. While I'm here does anyone know where my contacts are so I can send out group emails from a list rather than trying to remember how I have people listed in my people file.
Help!
Thanks
Mike
In response to prompt, installed Windows 10 but came to find that my Toshiba Satellite A505-S6960 was incompatible. Restored to Windows 7 and now Windows Live Mail will not open. First tried repair option with no luck. Have read several threads and tried uninstalling and installing Windows Live Essential 2011 but to no avail. Windows Live Mail had been working perfectly prior to the Windows 10 install and recovery to Windows 7. Running Windows Home Edition Premium with Service Pack 1. Have many storage folders of e-mails and would love to be able to get Windows Live Mail running again.
Error Message: "Windows Live Mail has stopped working: A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
Why is this happening and how do I fix it ?
