I am using Windows10 and I have a virgin email and a gmail account set up in Windows Live Mail which have worked well up to now, but now whenever I click to create, reply or forward an email I get a dialogue box saying....

"A problem occurred while trying to open this message.

 A problem has occurred. Please try again."

I am receiving emails ok for both those email accounts, and I can send ok when I login to those accounts online, so I guess it must be something to do with Windows Live Mail. Also my old non-default Outlook email (2007 version) lets me send and forward emails ok too. I prefer Live Mail so would like to get it working again.

By the way, when my wife logs-on to the same computer, her Windows Live Mail works perfectly. As far as I can see there are no different settings on her email accounts.

Please can you help me solve this issue?

Unable to receive messages with pop.suddenlink.net, Windows Live Mail error 0x800420CD

As Microsoft made me upgrade Live Mail the subfolders I created under my Inbox are not showing up, the rest of my folders do show up.  If I try to create the missing folders it tells me they already exist.  If I log in via a browser the subfolders are shown.  The subfolders were created in a previous version of Live Mail.  I have checked and my server is http.  How do I get the subfolders?
I have 2 computers both with Windows 10 and both were running Windows Live Mail 2012 fine until a couple of days ago. Now one works fine but the other will not download emails from my Hotmail address. It continues to work OK with my Google email. As far as I am aware I have added no new programs/downloads to either computer. Any ideas how to get Live mail to start downloading my hotmail messages again?

On opening Windows Live Mail I've found most emails (in a complex folder structure) are either missing OR have the title but content is the same for all emails in the folder.  Like many of you these emails are vital to me!.  

When installing Windows 10 in August I took great care to ensure that the backup was set up to a separate hard drive to cover all my valuable home photos etc etc.  I ASSUMED that the standard set up of this covered emails/ storage folders but I've tried to find these folders and so far unable to find let alone navigate restoring.

So first question is whether the standard set up of backup function would cover email storage folders (if so where do I find them to restore?)?  Second question - Have a totally lost storage folders or is there a "restore to previous version " functionality (see to have read this might be possible?

I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of help I am receiving to fix Windows Live Mail 2012 which was broken by an update Microsoft told to me to run.

The error message is this ....

Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail (richlaughlin) account.

Now that Incredimail is not working I have setup Windows live mail for a gmail account. It downloaded the first 150 messages ok to the inbox while it continued to synchronise. I could see in the import dialogue box that all the mail was being imported but I cannot see any of them other that the first 150 once complete. I see all the sent mail but the last inbox mail is june 2014. I can send an email to our account and get that but not the historical emails past June 2014.

Any ideas?

Config: Toshiba Laptop P500, Windows 10 Pro, Windows Live Mail 2012

Well I have about 30 groups in my Windows Live Mail 2012 and the names are in the group when I left click on the each group but if I do a right click and the click on Edit Category usually you see all the names in that group in the bottom window and if you scroll through the names on top the names in that group are highlighted.  If you put a group in an e-mail it puts the name of the group in the TO field with a plus in front and if you click on the plus sign it will display all the names instead.

I did a Repair on Windows Essential Live and that fixed the link between the group and the address book so that worked to that point.  I shut the computer down at night and the next morning start it up and launch Windows Live Mail and the links from the group and the address book is gone again.

I did another Repair of the Windows Essential Live to get the link established again and this time I brought each group up in edit mode and did a SAVE thinking maybe the Repair is not saving it but I got the same results.  After I shut down the computer and start it back up the link is gon again so now I am lost.  I have about 500 contacts and 28 groups.

Any Thoughts.

I just upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7 home version. I cannot get Windows Live Mail 2012 to open and load. It continually spins. I had WLM 2012 on my windows 7 and it worked perfectly before. I have been working with someone at MS support, but no one seems to be able to fix this issue. I use an internet cable provider. I don't know if this makes a difference or not. We have uninstalled and reinstalled several time with and without the Outlook pac and still nothing is correcting this problem.  The person at MS ran an error report and initially got an error about closing MS Edge. So we made sure that was closed and tried again. This time, the error was Cortana. We had Cortana shut off because I don't have a microphone. So I don't understand why that would even be an error. Right now I am having to go to web mail which is terribly frustrating. I really hope someone can help me fix this. I have spent hours on the phone with MS. I do not want to use Outlook if I don't have to.
