A couple of weeks ago I was editing and viewing .mov and .mp4 files without any problems with Windows Live Movie Maker and XBox Video Player. However, starting this past Friday I have been receiving this error "0xc00d36b4" where it says that "This item is in a format we don't support." And WLMM can only read the audio.

Videos that I used to be able to play have stopped working and there is absolutely zero chance of me having a mix-up because I have only EVER used .mov files. I use all the same filming equipment, nothing has changed on my end, only on my computer's end.

I am wondering why my computer suddenly stopped being able to read those certain file types? I know that WLMM and the XBox player aren't "supposed" to be able to play them anyway, but, for whatever reason, they were and now they are not.

I also downloaded a CODEC so WLMM could read .mov files, but that also did not solve the problem.

This is really frustrating because it has forced me to put all of my projects on halt.  I do not want to use a file converter because I do not want to lose image quality and I had no need for one prior, it just always read the .mov files.

Does anyone have any idea as to why this has happened? And if it was some mysterious fluke that my XBox video player and wlmm COULD read .mov files, what exactly would have caused that to happen?

Thanks
