I recently purchased the Sony α5100 to record videos for my YouTube channel. I purchased it because it's very compact for being such a high quality camera. Once I imported a video to my computer, I opened it on Windows Media Player and it played just fine. I imported the video to Windows Movie Maker and that worked just fine as well. However, WLMM started to run painfully slow to the point where I just couldn't edit it anymore. If I paused the video, it would take two minutes to get it to play again. Sometimes the video would go black, not play any sound, etc. It eventually started crashing.

WLMM supports AVCHD files, and I have the correct version of Windows in order to run them as well (Windows 7 Home Premium). Why is it running so slow? I'm almost regretting spending $500 on this camera if my computer or editing software can't even run it. I've tried installing codecs and I even downloaded ccleaner to clean out my system, but nothing has helped. I would rather not downgrade to MP4 files until I solve this issue, because I purchased this camera for that HD quality.

I used to film on a Canon Rebel t5i which was still high quality, but they were .MOV files and WLMM ran smoothly. That's how I know something is fishy with these AVCHD files.

I know plenty of other YouTubers that use this camera and they upload high quality videos all the time, so I'm not sure if its an issue with WLMM or my computer. However, my computer runs video games with ultra quality and everything else like that. I've never had an issue like this before. Please help!
