I'm about to go on a cross-country trip. I want to take all the Harry Potter Audiobooks (they appear on Youtube periodically) and burn them to CDs so we can have some entertainment on our trip.
Using a firefox add-on, I was able to download the Youtube videos with still images. Using AVS Video Converter, I was able to convert these files into WMV/WMA files that my Windows Media Player can play.
Well, I want to have JUST the audio files, so I can burn them to CDs that the car's CD player can play.
I decided that the best and simplest way to accomplish that task would be to simply import the Youtube videos to Windows Movie Maker, and simply crop out the video portion. This would even give me the added bonus of enabling me to break the 10-hour portions
up into smaller, separate audio files based on chapter.
However, when I try to import that video, Windows Movie Maker just gives me the following message:
"Windows Movie Maker cannot use the audio file C:UsersstebbinsdVideosOrder of the Phoenix part 1.wmv is in use by another program or does not contain valid audio data."
I can play it on Windows Media Center just fine! And in case anyone's wondering, I already took care of the "in use by another program" issue by closing down the Windows Media Center.
As I single-click on the video file, after it's been converted by AVS (single-click, so as to highlight the file, but not open it), it very clearly says
"Windows Media Audio/Video File"
So ... why doesn't Windows Movie Maker recognize it? This sounds like the one audio/video format that this software should recognize above all others!
