Hi,
I'm using Windows Movie Maker 6.0 (I realize this is an older version, I've also tried out the later versions but they are not to my liking), where my main activity consists of making videos with clips recorded from the Sims 2 game, which I then upload to YouTube. The game has a number of options for video recording quality (such as Low, High, High and uncompressed), and for a while I've used the latter option, before I realized the ridiculous amount of space a single clip would take up on my computer. Since then, I tried switching to the High option and the clip sizes were a lot smaller.
Here's where my issue comes in -- While the high and uncompressed clips would import into and play in WMM 6.0 with no problem at all, the high clips always show up in WMM without any video. They transfer in just fine, the sound is there, but the screen is all black. I believe the recorded clips come out in the AVI format, and I would have assumed that the high and uncompressed clips did as well.
What's a cheap and easy solution I could take? I've tried free video converters and seeing if those would help, but they either place their watermarks on the finished product since I am not paying for it, or the videos would come out in worse quality than they originally were.
I've read a couple other threads with similar issues and it was suggested to those users to check to see if their display driver is up to date. I did that, and it is up to date. I'm using a NVIDIA GeForce 310M.
Thanks for any advice.
