We have one Windows 7 Professional laptop that has Windows Media Player 12 (12.0.7601.18150) installed.  We also have Windows Live Movie Maker 11 (15.4.3555.0308) installed.  After the update KB2847077 in December 2013 that brought WMP to 12.0.7601.18150), this machine can no longer create DVDs.  When you press the create DVD button in Movie Maker, it creates the .wmv file but then instead of bringing up the windows for creating the DVD, it comes up with a Windows Media Configuration Manager window that says:

"There is a more recent version of Windows Media Player (12.0.7601.18150) already installed on your computer.  It is not possible to use an older installation package (12.0.7601.17514) to install files or to repair your current version of the player."

I uninstalled the KB2847077 update from the machine and tried again.  This time the configuration manager window comes up and says the player is up to date and that no updates are needed.  But still does not open the windows to burn the DVD like it should

I've tried with Windows Movie Maker 11 and Windows Movie Maker 12.  Same results.

Please help if you can....I'm afraid some Microsoft goon is going to respond and say Windows 7 pro needs to be laid down fresh on the computer and to start from scratch.  I would prefer a less cumbersome answer if there is one.  I have no time to reformat this box.
